Here is a wonderful infographic which explains in simple terms the different types of fats.

For decades the public has been bombarded by the media and health syndicates with the message that lowering your fat intake will improve your health and improve your diet. Sadly, many in the public have misunderstood this very narrow statement, and have drawn the conclusion that fat is bad for you. Too much fat, too much of certain fat types and bad ratios of fat types in your diet can certainly be unhealthy, but the fact remains: Fat a necessary part of our diet. More importantly: fat is a necessary part of a HEALTHY diet!  

Sadly, the importance of fat in a healthy diet has been lost or misunderstood by many in the public.

For the public to understand the importance of fat in a healthy diet requires the public has some deeper understanding of the different types of fat.
