This gym is like walking into a used car lot. The best they can offer is excuses, broken equipment, and trainers that don't have a clue about human anatomy. This gym wants to extort money from it's members. The leadership is the worst. They won't let me cancel my membership due to it being paid in full and then wanting more money when I caught them trying to cheat me on the cost of the membership. When I called the corporate office this morning I was advised that I wouldn't be getting a refund if I cancelled my membership. Given this I just cancelled my debit card. These people are snakes. Stay away from them they are another high pressure sales department.

I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU FIND ANOTHER GYM we have had nothing but a terrible experience with this gym. when we first signed up the person who helped us was nothing but a b-s-er.after that my fiance was signed up for a custom payment plan for training. which was never followed. we had money taken out of our account 2 times causing overdraft fees both times. we got those taken care of minus the overdraft fees. we decided to canel the membership due to recent life changes and it takes 30 days to process a request so we have been charged for this final month. today i looked at our bank acct and they are pulling another 120 from us. im going to the better business bureau.

DO NOT SIGN UP HERE. I had found a great deal through a school fundraiser for $20 for 3 months. We went in to check it out (October 2013) and thought it was pretty nice so we wanted to use our coupons. They swindled us into a membership (month to month, no cancellation fees! sure) for various reasons and with all these added free things and promises of a FREE start up of weigh in, body fat index, nutrition, etc. (jump start or whatever the hell they call it). I was very excited for it all, especially the jump start. We went to our "jump start" and it turned into a very uncomfortable situation because we were being sold this thing that we were told was free, by a man who made me feel uncomfortable (Jimmy, if hes still there). Because we wanted the help we signed up for personal training which he told us we could cancel if we didn't like. Personal trainer didn't call us at all for 2 weeks. When I got charged for the personal training and had received none I went in to tell them to cancel it and they gave me a nonsense story of how they don't do anything the first two weeks because of the payments or whatever and didn't cancel my account, although I had requested to do so. 2 weeks later had still not had any personal training and was charged again. I was livid so I cancelled my debit card and never went back. When their billing people contacted me I told them of my situation and that I just wanted to cancel and wouldn't pay because I never received the services to pay for. He told me he would contact them since I had a balance and couldn't cancel myself to see if they would, and would call me the next day. Never received a call. Got a call a few weeks later again from billing and asked who I could speak to. They told me to talk to the manager of the gym. I called the gym to make an appointment with the manager, who also never called me back. Now they have turned me over to collections. They use Swift Funds Collections. A man called me claiming to be a lawyer for the gym and told me they were going to take me to court, which he thought was ridiculous and wanted to help. My bf who's on the account with me, spoke with the collection who said we owed 160 each. Call today, paid 160 for one part of my account and turns out the other part is over 1000, and the "lawyer" was a manager at the collections. This place is the biggest SCAM. My neighbor also had a similar issue with them. Don't let them screw you too for a shitty gym (which all the other bad reviews are dead on- teenagers sitting aroud everywhere, kids running around, always packed, etc)

My family and I have been training with Nico at the Phoenix/Glendale location of Fitness Works since June 2013. We have all had great results! When I signed up for training I wasn't quite sure what to expect but I have been pleasantly surprised nonetheless. Nico is a motivator, without being a drill sergeant. He encourages you to do your best without being condescending. He will even make you laugh in the middle of a set of reps just to keep things light and remind you that working out can (and should) be fun. Nico has the personality that allows him to push you without seeming pushy and encourage you without seeming that he is preaching to you. As much as he tortures us (which is what is seems like during training), we enjoy the sessions and are pleased with the results, not just in weight loss but in building muscle, gaining strength and balance, and just overall improving our health and well-being. I would highly recommend personal training with Nico at the Phoenix/Glendale location of Fitness Works.

i haggled for the price i wanted which will give a good rating in that regard, some of the people that workout there are somewhat rude, and some people try to size you up sometimes with how they look at you. But i think thats regular human nature. The free weights are really nice, the machines are equally as nice.... i cant say anything about the classes because i only focus on moving iron... some parts of the free weight section can get packed but its not unbearable.. but i like this gym... get huge...

When we first came here, we loved it (my husband and I). The staff at the Glendale facility is great. What completely ruined our experience was their corporate office. Not once was anything explained to us, and when we would ask the staff questions, they assured us a certain outcome, only for us to have to constantly call their customer service to get it fixed. We tried leaving, but faced tons of fees, so decided to wait out the last month of our year. Once it came up, we canceled and told them we did not want to renew, and was told we were done. Weeks later, we find out they are still trying to charge us and said cancellation wasn't guaranteed up to 30 days and we still had to pay. No one ever told us this. The whole thing ruined our experience with this place and I would not recommend it to anyone. Great staff AT the gym, but their corporate is full of it.

Pros-this gym has a comfortable feel. Most of the experienced members are very friendly and willing to spot or offer tips. There is plenty of Cardio equipment. Broken equipment is quickly repaired. Plenty of cable stations. Friendly front desk staff. Child care staff is great. Group classes are top notch. If you go to the gym for group classes you must try this gym. group class areas are very private for those who are self conscious. Very little waiting for equipment during peak times. Decent rate (could be a couple $'s cheaper for what the gym offers). I would llike this gym to open earlier and close later on the weekends and holidays. Cons-not enough adjustable benches (should remove 1 decline bench and replace it with an adjustable). Squat racks are too close together. Gym does not have a hack squat machine or a utility bench. No paper towels in the locker rooms due to their "go green" effort. I think that it is no more than a cost cutting effort. cash and credit purchases take forever. The club now charges for spin class (this is b*llsh*t - I have never heard of another gym charging for spin class). Nico Reyes is a personal trainer at the location in Glendale. He is top notch. He knows his stuff and I trust him and his advice. I highly reccomend him if you are looking to get in shape or take it to the next level.

To start off I first noticed this gym by driving by their huge sign that you can see from the 101, it read try for 30 days free. I was instantly impressed because I have never known any gym to give a 30 day free trial, only a week at most. When you walk in the gym the feeling you get is that this is a very nice gym, most likely pricey. Off to your right you have the daycare which is gorgeous, great security( you can watch your kids from the workout machines that have tv's), and fun sections for kids to play in for instance there is a rock wall. Then to your left you have the workout area, which is nicely kept no trash on the floor and all the machines look brand new. Straight ahead you have the pool, sauna room, dressing rooms, tanning beds and classes. There is so many classes that is hard to choose which one you want to do first. The locker rooms again are kept very nice, they don't ever appear to be trashed. The people are extremely friendly at this gym, when I signed up for my 30 day trial I was told that everyone that works here would hold me accountable to my goal and this was true. Every time I came in I was greeted by name and asked how I was doing getting started on my goal. Huge gyms like LA Fitness do not treat their members like that, they just see them as money and once they are signed the relationship is over. I would highly recommend this gym because it has the features and feel of big gyms, but the customer service of a small-family owned one.
