NJ Fishing Report/Update
Ok all week weather looks great (according to NOAA) 2-3 foot seas max!
Fluke Season officially closes this Tuesday and most boats are still picking away at them!
Sea Bass Season Opens up this Friday with a 20 fish limit per person - 12.5 inch minimum size. Most bottom fishing boats can't keep them off the hook the past few weeks and has had to throw them back! Time to change that. Most bottom fishing boats will be making the transition from Fluke to Sea Bass so make sure you get out there while fishing is hot!
Striped Bass - While we haven't heard any big fish showing up there has been plenty of reports of small bass around. So any day we expect the bite to break wide open. Just need a few more cold nights which this week should help! Check out our page often we will let you know when they show up! But make sure you book your charters NOW because as soon as they show up your favorite boat will be booked quick if they arent already booked!
Tuna / Mahi / Swordfish - Right now the bite is hot. Have seen good reports from the Hudson Canyon with quality fish. Really good fishing at southern holes and even some fish inshore at the mudhole! We have also seen a fair amount of Swordfish being caught the last few weeks as more and more boats are targeting them on the overnight canyon trips!!!
A bunch of Point Pleasant Party Boats are booking now for an inexpensive tuna experience and they have been producing. But there are plenty of high quality charter boats that have space available and will give you more options of fishing techniques for a reasonable cost also. Check out Facebook page daily for available charter space as we post great deals daily!!!
Bluefish - The Bluefish Bite remains solid as it has been over the last 2-3 weeks. Any boat willing to make the trip east has been able to on most days put the monsters on the deck!!!! Still getting the 12-16lb Gator Blues. Just make sure you stock up on gear before you go these guys have been tackle busters!!!
Ling / Cod - Ling remains good and most boats targeting them have been able to get in the 15-20 a man range the last 2 weeks. Cod has been a little harder to come by as the water still needs to cool off a little. But with Sea Bass opening up later this week most party boats will switch over to target both Ling and Seabass so it will make for quality fishing and should most will have a good shot at filling the freezer!
