Anna Maria Island Fishing Charters March 13th-26th 2017 Report: Cold to HOT... We started the second week of March with the remits of a significant cold front that pushed though the region, leaving us water water temperatures in the high 50's. The week prior we had water temperatures in the mid to high 70's, so we have a 20 degree temperature drop which slowed down the Snook, Redfish, and Trout bite. We ended up heading for some deeper water to target Sheepshead and Snapper which were biting pretty good and most trips ended up with some table fare to take home. We were catching Sheepshead using shrimp on the bottom in the middle of Tampa Bay, around Egmont Key, and the north end of Anna Maria Island. This past week water temperatures were on the rise and so was the inshore bite. Bait has started showing up in massive numbers and can be found on most grass flats and around structure in deeper waters. The Snook bite has steadily increased over this past week (Picture) and this next week the bite should be ON!. There are a massive amount of Snook in the bay waiting for the tides and the water temperature to ignite the bite (Picture). The Trout bite has really picked up and all the fishing are well over keeper size (15"). The Redfish bite has been sporadic with some days being very well and others not so much. We did catch some nice Redfish this past week (Picture). This upcoming week we will see better tides and the new moon starts which should turn the Redfish on.   If you are looking to stay on Anna Maria Island or the surrounding areas check out Island Real Estate for all your accommodation needs. Team Lady Angler... (Crystal River, FL): A super fun time today with the Ann, Olivia, Tia and Lauren from Settin' the Hook and Lady Angler Apparel out of the Plantation on Crystal River. It was a windy day, but we stayed inshore and did very well with some trout and a few bonus snook. The trout were all caught in the shallow water on DOA glow jerk baits and the snook too. We had a tough one on red fish, as we only had one hooked up, but unfortunately came unbuttoned at boat-side. I had a blast with you all and I look forward to next time... Capt. Tough Windy Trout... (Crystal River, FL): Not an easy one today with the low water and windy conditions, but the Miller team caught some nice trout for the day. The guys were here on spring break and we loving the warmer weather than Michigan. I couldn't do to much with the conditions, as trout fishing was going to be our theme. We stayed inshore off the keys using jerk baits and caught our trout. The fish were concentrated in little areas and we picked up a few each drift. The white caps made it tough, but we had a fun time. I thank you all and I hope to see you again next time... Capt. Girls Team.... (Crystal River, FL): The wind swapped today and it sure turned the fish on. Kathy, Stefanie, and Riley were my team and they did awesome. I got on the late season sheepshead for the start of the day and they secured a fine catch. The sheepshead bite is about over, as it should as we end March. I did find a couple triple tail, but they sure didn't want to cooperate. We left the triple tail and made quite the run to red fish land and ended the day with a beautiful limit of red fish. You all were so great and I hope to do it again soon... Capt. Dan http://fishingstatus.com/home/details/indexId/1238733?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=gplus
