Is Google testing search results without descriptions? If so, this makes for a very unfriendly SERP: http://searchengineland.com/google-tests-search-results-listings-without-descriptions-215973
Google tests how searchers would react to not seeing a snippet description in the search results.

Looks like Google is testing a "Slow Site" label in the search results. Page speed has never been more important: http://searchengineland.com/google-testing-red-slow-label-search-results-slower-sites-215483
Is your site unusually slow? Google is testing a red slow label in the search results that will warn searchers before they click over to your web site.

Google cautions against link building. Of course, this is nothing new. If you listen to John Mueller's response, he's warning against link building for the sake of manipulating search results. In other words, stop spamming! http://searchengineland.com/google-try-avoid-link-building-can-harm-good-214861
Google's webmaster trends analyst, John Mueller, recommends you do not focus on link building and if you do, it may lead to more harm for your web site than anything good.

Why aren't we ranking for our keywords? The answers may surprise you (well, if you know much about search marketing they won't, but everyone loves a little clickbait, right?): http://www.firstscribe.com/blog/arent-ranking-insert-keyword-internet-marketing-mysteries/
Everyone wants to rank number one in search, but it's not always feasible. Fortunately, you can be successful even without a top ranking.

From start to finish, First Scribe listened to our ideas and goals for our new website, and followed through with a very successful product. We couldn't be happier with our new site, and continue to get positive feedback from our peers. The most asked question... "Who did your site, and can we have their contact information."

First Scribe is a fantastic group to work with. I’ve used both their SEO services and their Magento know how to build a couple of websites with them. In my experience, Jason and his team were quite professional. They’ve hit every deadline I’ve ever set. They are extremely transparent, I’ve never been hit with any unforeseen charges, and best of all, they offer valuable insights based off of their years of experience in the industry that enhanced the projects I was working on with them.

I have worked with First Scribe off and on for about three years now. We have done everything from one off small websites to an enterprise level e-commerce solution. They have always been forthright and easy to work with. One of my favorite things about them is that they will give real feedback on whether something is worth doing or not, completely independent of whether it is going to benefit their bottom line, which kept my business coming back to them. They were a key solution in my previous roll as Marketing Director for a regional real estate developer where we had to take over a previously built custom CMS that was fraught with issues and turn it into a viable solution in short order without a complete re-build due to budget constraints. In my current role as Digital Marketing Manager for Riverstone Residential Group, the largest 3rd party residential management company in the United States, they have been able to come into unique and complicated situations and act deftly and nimbly alongside our national partners and regional teams. Due to our organization's national partnerships and guidelines, I do not work as directly with First Scribe as I used to, but they have remained a trusted source of knowledge and consultation on important SEO projects. I've practically got Sarah Klosterbuer, Internet Marketing Director for First Scribe, on speed dial when I have a question or need honest advice and I always come away more informed that I was before. I can only think that James Simmons, the previous reviewer, must have had a uniquely unfortunately set of circumstances, as I have had quite the opposite experience, not to repudiate his experience, of course. SEO and web development is what they live and breathe, and is evident in the fact that they were ranked so well in my searches that I connected with them simply by a Google Search and online research, no referral. The proof is in the pudding, you might say. They come with my highest recommendation.

I worked with First Scribe on the launch of a new website for a Fortune 500 company. The creative team designed an attractive and user friendly front end and the technical team was very astute at providing the needed functionality, as well as integrating with the legacy database system. Everyone at First Scribe was great to work with. The team was very responsive and willing to help us with whatever we needed. I would highly recommend First Scribe for their expertise and customer service. We are very happy with the quality of the work and final product. Thank you!

We needed some custom Magento development work done, which honestly should not have taken them ultimately longer than a week or two at best. I understand that First Scribe has lots of other clients, but it was apparent that we were at the bottom priority for them as our small list of development items they somehow stretched out nearing a year to complete. Trying to get any information or status updates from them felt almost impossible the vast majority of the time, if they provided info at all. It was like they would respond only to get us to go away again, and repeatedly didn't provide the development work or updates on what was going on by the dates or within the timeframes they themselves had stated. It was very frustrating to work with this company as they provided us an estimate for the completed work (that is, all of the development items we wanted complete) and yet only finished half of them. Then in addition to all the time delays and excuses, they came back saying they wanted more money... when not even yet half the work was done. Some of the times they tried to shuffle the blame for their own functionality they developed out being broken onto us, although we weren't even touching anything with our Magento site the entirety of their development period. At one point they claimed their development was complete, but our staff continued to find errors directly related to their shoddy work. First Scribe was an expensive mistake for us not only for not getting everything they had promised to develop in the budget they quoted, but also for the huge delay we had in finishing and launching our new website. We only ended up with half of what we'd asked and ultimately, had to hire a real Magento developer at extra cost to finish up the rest of what we needed, as well as fix their work. We did not utilize their SEO services, although they seemed to push us hard at times to try and get us to purchase those services from them. It should be noted within the development we asked for was for us to tweak additional meta and social sharing info on our end, which was botched by them, doesn't work as they claimed - in addition to them simply installed an AddThis extension (which should be a red flag to any others with actual developer knowledge who have encountered that service's hijacking issues over the years). I'm really disappointed in our entire experience with this company and would not recommend them to anybody. They were really frustrating to deal with and very trying waiting to hear any correspondence or real update info from.

We did not utilize First Scribes SEO services, but did attempt to utilize their programming services for some custom magento work. They bid the job complete, but halfway through tried to come back for additional funds. Then they "completed" the project and we moved into the bug testing phase. Every time we pointed out a bug that directly related to their compiling of various modules or coding, they wanted more money. Probably also worth a mention that it was pulling teeth to get status updates and timeframes, and the few weeks that it was originally going to take turned into a 9 month process. Maybe we were a small job for this company and so they just didn't care...who knows. In the end they completed just over half of the functionality that was originally requested and agreed to in writing. We were stuck with a website that was not ready to launch, and were forced to hire an actual programmer to finish the job. Maybe their SEO services are great...I do not know...but what I do know is that I would rather never do business online than ever do business with this company again. That being said, the staff was very pleasant to deal with in person, and they have nice clean offices.

Working with Jay, Jason, Zach and the rest of the guys at First Scribe has been awesome. Not only is our website very professional and user friendly, but the Magento web cart has made it very easy to add and edit products on our own to keep it constantly updated. Any time we need something changed or added on the main website the guys at First Scribe always get it done in a hurry. First Scribe has also been helping us with our organic SEO with spectacular results. In just over a year of working with them many of our targeted keywords are in the first page of Google listings. We sell high dollar items and didn't think a better website would provide such an increase in both online and offline sales, but we have been pleasantly surprised!
