The town of Manteo from the air - taken February 10, 2002. Notice that the Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse has not been built yet. Good view showing Dough's Creek (Manteo Waterfront)with the Cora Mae Basnight Memorial Bridge connecting Manteo to Festival Park, Shallowbag Bay as it feeds into the Roanoke Sound and then the Atlantic Ocean. The bridge is the Washington Baum Bridge (with Pirate's Cove clustered around it on the Roanoke Island side), connecting Roanoke Island and Nags Head. Photo by Bill Parker.

Amazing shot from our photographer, Jonathan Clark, of the wild horses located in Carova, NC. If you haven't experienced all the magic that is Carova - we highly recommend it. No paved roads, no stop lights, salty ocean breezes, wild horses roam the beach - it doesn't get much better! Interested in taking a tour during your next stay with us? Local Tip Alert!
Have you been to Lucky 12 Tavern in Nags Head? It is located at Mile Post 12 on the Beach Road in Nags Head, NC. Great, unique decor and atmosphere with a wide variety of menu items and on tap beer! Personal favorites are the Fried Oysters and Philly Cheese Steak sandwich. Our favorite part about Lucky 12 is that they serve local NC seafood, fresh and in season and locally sourced produce.
They're even our Village VIP partner. Click here: https://goo.gl/eukezz to take a look at their offer.

Good people doing good things on and for the OBX.

The Outer Banks Community Foundation was organized in 1982 as a public charity to help meet local needs in Dare County and across all Outer Banks communities, from Corolla to Ocracoke Island. The Community Foundation accomplishes its mission by increasing charitable giving in the area, by managing charitable funds for individuals and agencies, and by targeting grants toward the community’s most pressing needs and promising opportunities.

They manage the scholarships that Village Realty gives to high school students (including home-schooled) every year.
