FSS Establishes Perth Office

We are very excited to announce that Fire & Safety Systems will now have a full-time presence in Western Australia though the establishment of a regional office in Perth!

Located in the IBM Building, 1060 Hay Street, West Perth, our new operational base supplements our head office in Brisbane, Australia and our Americas regional office in Vancouver, Canada.

FSS has a proud history of project execution in Western Australia, with 20 years of experience in offshore oil and gas facilities, the Goldfields, the Pilbara and the Kimberley's. The decision to open a full-time presence in Perth is in response to a growing demand for specialist fire protection engineering for industrial projects in the region, and the need to service our clients directly on the ground in WA. The Perth office will also be the direct hub for our growing customer base in Africa and the Middle East.

To our existing customers in the region, we thank you for your support, and look forward to continuing our association with you in 2017 and beyond.

Based in WA and need help with your project? Contact us to arrange a meeting and find out how we can assist.

Congratulations to FSS Project Manager, Trent Jeude, who achieved nomination in the Fire Protection Industry Award, in the Young Achiever of The Year category. Although narrowly missing out on the award in what was a hotly contested field, it was a great night. Trent has excelled in his achievements over the past few years, managing projects in the Dominican Republic, Peru, Canada and in Western Australia. We're proud of how far he has progressed, and look forward to many more years of success to come.

Congratulations to Bechtel Gladstone and Santos on achieveing First Cargo for the Gladstone LNG Project! Fire & Safety Systems has been working with Bechtel on the project since 2009 and our involvement has included project consultancy, fire systems design, engineering, and construction support for the various fire protection systems for the project. Job done!

To all our clients and colleagues around the world, finishing up their work for the year and probably heading to a work party, pub or other establishment, please be safe, and remember if you plan to drink, don't plan to drive. Have a safe and happy start to the holidays!

Two more down!  Last week saw the commissioning of two more Rectiformer foam-water spray systems at Pacific Aluminium's Bell Bay Smelter in Tasmania.  PacAl have been progressively replacing and upgrading their rectiformers over the past 5-6 years, and FSS has been providing engineering, procurement and construction management of their highly specialised fire suppression systems.
The foam-water spray systems are an innovative design conceived by FSS founder Doug Pickersgill in the late 90's for Boyne Smelter's Lines 1 & 2 Rectiformer Upgrade and the Sohar Aluminium Smelter.  The system comprises larger bore pipework, mounted on the transformer bay walls, industrial nozzles, foam induction to reduce water demand, and triple-spectrum infrared flame detection for early actuation.  The design has been backed by some of the world leading insurance agencies.
Pictured here is one of the discharge tests, and FSS Designer/Technical Officer Rodrigo Alvarenga at the foam control station (Reproduced with permission of Pacific Aluminium).
