As you glance up from your real job and gaze at the rows of offices occupied by “managers,” do you ever get the feeling that nothing of value is really going on over there? My friend, you are exactly right.

Coal consumption is dropping in the US, but soaring in India and huge in China.  Mark C. Thurber, associate director for research at Stanford University’s Program on Energy and Sustainable Development, says

"It seems totally nuts, but it follows from the fact that renewables have a lot of support, and other than that, people do what they know, which is coal.”

Chemistry Prize: Volkswagen, for solving the problem of excessive automobile pollution emissions by automatically, electromechanically producing fewer emissions whenever the cars are being tested.
Rats in tiny trousers, pseudoscientific bullshit, the personalities of rocks, and Volkswagen’s, shall we say, “creative” approach to emissions testing were among the research topics honored by the 2016 Ig Nobel Prizes. The winners were announced last night at a live webcast ceremony held at Harvard University.

well this is interesting. it's not just the moon though it has to work nice with sun
Attention, moon-fearing humans: your long-held suspicion that the full moon can interfere with life on Earth seems to have a scientific basis after all. No, the moon still doesn’t make you crazy, horny, or murderous. But it can trigger large earthquakes.

Food for thought.
They’re green in principle, but not in the way people use them. An Object Lesson.
