Today I learnt (TIL)  -
Do you remember that one time you had a meeting where everyone was prepared, knew the objective of the meeting, and truly valued one…

Is anyone with an Adobe CC account willing to try something for me?

We have a Word doc with formulas that keeps failing for home users.  I'm wondering if conversion to a PDF form with text field formulas might  resolve the issues?

What solutions are colleagues using for module evaluation?

We've been asked to look at a paper scanning solution to capture scalar ratings and free form comments(!) whilst also minimising work-load for support staff.  Not sure a paper system is required at all. But in peoples experience what is the hit on engagement like if we move to an entirely electronic solution?

Electronic evaluation seems to have a poor reputation for engagement within our faculty.  Do we need to offer bribes?  What incentives / threats have worked for you?

Be really interested to hear what people are using out there and perhaps pay you a visit?

This is great stuff - are people ok if I share some of the ideas here with our Faculty group looking at this issue?  +1 if you're ok with it?  :)

This script to create a Google drive 'dropbox' looks handy.  Even for users without Google accounts...

That's a neat solution. By the way, Dropbox also recently added something similar as a feature: https://blogs.dropbox.com/dropbox/2015/06/introducing-file-requests/

Slack is something I've been playing with a bit lately... it's fantastic for small teams, but of limited use to the wider University because it's not intended for huge numbers of users, and there's no inter-team communication. I can see it being perfect for communications within small departments/teams though.

an update to this.  Devs seem very responsive.. received the following:

"Will there be a 'free' solution forever?" -
Yes, there will be always a free version, with some limitations such is current 2 minutes voice limit.

"How long are animations retained for and can I delete them once uploaded?" -
I cannot answer exactly now. We're still collecting information to make a decission about a method of monetization.
Currrently we do not delete sketches, but as the amount will grow on server, we will delete the oldest ones.
There will be probably some possibility to buy a premium account, so your sketches will remain on server as long as you're a premium user.
But this is just idea. We should first get enough information to see how users use Clarisketch and which business model can best fit to users needs.
Currently you cannot delete uploaded sketches, because there is no relation between sketch and author. It's anonymous, the sketch doesn't hold any info about an author.
I'm preparing a next version with possibility to login to Clarisketch by using google account. With the login will be possible to manage all your uploaded sketches on server, delete them, rename etc.
So the sketches will hold an author id.

"If I delete them on my phone are they deleted from your servers?" -
As I wrote in previous answer, currently not, because there is not relation to author. If you wish to delete a sketch, just send us a link and we'll remove the sketch.
I know that it's not ideal, but I'm working hard on solution, described in my previous answer. We're just on the beginning...

"Would we have an option to download the content generated for retention on our own servers?" -
Maybe this can be possible as well, if you login to server, there can be a possibility to download .clask files, for backup purposes etc.

"Would be nice if zooming was also included in the animations." -
Yes, I have a long tasklist of future features. The zoom animation is one of them. But I have to balance it well. I do not want to overengineer it, so Clarisketch will become a big, too complex software. I'd like to keep it simple and easy to use.
The clarisketch file is not a video, it's actually a small data file containing a vector data + sound + pictures. So I've a lot of possiblilties how to present the data during playing back, for example zoom automatically to smaller area during playing back on smaller devices etc.

We're looking to use Google groups in a complex school environment with 6 sub-sections.  This is to replace our old Sympa based email lists system.  The issue we have is that support staff working at School level are managing the lists - but don't want to get pulled into every event and shared doc for the sub-groups.  The no-mail option is not enough to prevent this.

I'm thinking of two potential solutions.  A third-party holding account that the support staff log into to do the work (and that gets all the spam invites) OR I relax the Group membership a little more - so non-members can create events.

Any thought's on potential solutions?

Just shared an .mp3 file on Google drive (public share link) but I've set the advanced option to prevent downloading, printing, copying of the file.

Keep getting a consistent error message.  Anyone else have this problem?

Quick MOLE question - how would you create a folder into which students can deposit and view each others work (files)?  Of course a shared Google Drive folder would succeed with this.  But interested whether Blackboard could emulate the same functionality.

Does anyone know how to find out who 'owns' a shared Google calendar?  Do I need to go all the way up to my site admin to find this out?

Did some tests with a dummy account and indeed, only admins can see who owns the calendar, weird because knowing who's the owner is indeed usefull in some cases.

Hi Fergus if you click on the arrow next to 'My Calendar' and choose 'Settings' you can use the 'Shared: Edit settings' next to the shared calendar to see who has access. The owner would have the 'Make changes AND manage sharing' attributes assigned to them, but if they've given others that same access then it's not going to help unfortunately. Can't see any clear way of identifying the owner.

LOL - sorry I think I was having a frustrating day that day. Yes, I'd love to write. And yes, I love sci-fi too. Maybe one day. Who knows :)
