Manhole covers don’t have to be ugly sewer lids. In Japan, they can be astoundingly intricate, colorful, museum-worthy feats of urban design.

Great concept, and the tapas were all pretty tasty. Open on Sundays.

Great food and coffee in a relaxed setting. Outdoor seating, atop a monumental staircase, is particularly nice in good weather.

Outstanding and affordable cooking in one of the prettiest parts of Madrid. This restaurant specializes in cod fish, but many other options are excellent, like the pencas (chard stalks in bechamel) or the albóndigas (seafood meat balls in this case). Its chatty hostess, Carmen, is most friendly and attentive.

Good location and a beautiful second floor, but food is unremarkable.

This place serves delicious molletes, a soft white bread combined with olive oil or a variety of more hearty options. It is a traditional breakfast from Southern Spain.

Awesome vegetarian food at a great location overlooking the ocean. It's on the second floor! El chef es muy amable y habla español.
