In the process, they are making incredibly dishonest arguments and are receiving virtually no pushback from the media."""
CIA director John Brennan thinks privacy advocates undermine counter-terrorism work. But snooping on everyone won’t protect us

Technology can be extremely scary.

"In the works for years, China’s ‘social credit system’ aims to create a docile, compliant citizenry who are fiscally and morally responsible by employing a game-like format to create self-imposed, group social control. In other words, China gamified peer pressure to control its citizenry; and, though the scheme hasn’t been fully implemented yet, it’s already working — insidiously well."

I'm scared · Military in front of the Eiffel tower. I'm currently living in Paris, the city where less than one month ago, some fanatics killed people because they were listening to music, watching a football match, or simply enjoy beers in a bar. I was living in the neighbourhood of where those ...

Indeed. I'm not sure I understand what issues exist with meritocracy that don't exist in other systems. But this has been enlightening. It may be that meritocracy is not the appropriate description for the processes of many FLOSS projects. Reading http://www.chesnok.com/daily/2011/03/30/where-meritocracy-fails/ - some of the comments fit my view, but I'm beginning to understand how meritocracy may itself be a misleading or confusing description of what exists.
