Yet another story about sexual abuse in the military.  Good HuffPost interview, but I don't think it goes far enough.  Sexual abuse in the military doesn't just happen to women.  There have been a few other story that deal with subordinate men having to endure the same abuse, but until the problem of sexual assault is dealt with systemically, there won't be any real change.  This isn't really about whether the military protects its women, it's about not allowing preditors to floursh and disgrace our nation and the uniform by hiding behind it.
NEW YORK -- On an isolated hilltop outpost overlooking a town in Eastern Afghanistan in spring 2007, a cell phone rang. If the phone -- a detonation device -- had been properly wired, Rebekah Havrilla and her team leader would have been blown up along with a hill packed full of five landmines and an improvised explosive device.

PRAISE GOD!!! I am so happy to see the changes... to be witness to the changes Pope Francis is bringing to the Catholic Church. I thank God for him and pray his strength in the Lord and and that church hierarchy will continue to be receptive to the changes he is making. One of the reasons I left the Roman Catholic Church was because of a priest who "couldn't relate" (as he put it ) to a matter I brought to him, when I need spiritual guidance and he'd known me since I was 12 years old. I thank God that this pontif is not afraid to "smell of the sheep"... that his he is willing to go to out to he highways and byways (luke 4:23) and offer God's people a seat at His table.

Quote of the day from Richard Rohr's, Immortal Diamond:
"Dispite exceptions in every nation, church, denomination, group, monastery, and age, we almost totally lost the "alternative processing system," which I would call contemplation.... Most of it was not conscious, but the product of ignorance, fear and overreaction. Now the Christian world has produced more atheists, anti-Christians, witch hunts, and secularists than any other region would think possible. How can a society survive when it hates its own religion or the notion of deep participation?"

Praise God! It's so good to know that the Vatican is no longer for sale.
ROME (AP) - Pope Francis has a warning for Italy's mobsters: They will go to hell if they don't repent and renounce their "blood-stained money and blood-stained power." The pontiff on Friday delivered his most forceful denunciation yet o...
