NEW VIDEO: Italian City of Cycling - Ferrara

I love the Italian cycling style in this medieval city. It's said to be the city in Italy with the largest number of bicycles per capita. And it also probably has the largest number of cobbles per bicycle. And yet everyone cycles. Take a look and find out why large sprung saddles are a thing in Ferrara and how to ride in style with accessories including platforms, heels, dogs, children, pearls, and gelato. And always with a large bicycle basket. My kind of town.

Tea's Up - The Lady Betty Afternoon Tea Experience

Do you like cake? If you wanted to join our family, you'd have to be a fan. We were looking for the Cake District when we accidentally ended up living in the Lake District!

If you do like cake you'll love Bettys It's an institution in Harrogate. And York. In fact many think of it as a national treasure and you often have to queue to get in.

But if you book a Lady Betty afternoon tea there's no queuing, only brewing as silver pots and cake stands are the stars of the show.

We stopped off at the original Betty's in Harrogate on our Days Inn Days Out road trip to experience the famed Betty's cakes - see how we got in this new post. It was a great day out from Days Inn Wetherby.

Or check out the cakes and tell us which is your favourite? Who knows -you might even end up part of the family...

Hats off to Chatsworth for Hatsworth

If you're looking for a stylish day out then how about Chatsworth House? We visited recently and had a ball.

It wasn't just about viewing five centuries of designer style in a special exhibition. It wasn't just about trying on hats at #Hatsworth. It wasn't just about walking down the fountain and running around the maze and meeting a gardener from a hundred years ago. It was mostly about having fun as a family in one of the UK's most beautiful, yet relaxing stately homes.

Chatsworth House was one of the stops on our UK mini road trip with Days Inn which took us to several national treasures in the north UK.

Check out our post here, especially if you are in need of a fine new hat...

Blast off for a Day in Outer Space - Visiting the National Space Centre

There's still time for one last day out before school's back. To get as far away as possible from the school routines, why not head into outer space at the National Space Centre, Leicester.

We visited on our recent Days Inn #DaysOut UK road trip. It was an out of this world experience, an education in stars, space and where we all come from. If you like exploration, adventure, science, space travel, planetariums or drinking milkshakes under a rocket, you'll enjoy a day out here.

It's only 5,900 million kilometres from the sun, or just up the road from Days Inn Leicester Forest East.

New Post - Ice Hockey Taster Session!

We had never played hockey. We couldn't skate. Ice was something we put in our drinks. So why did we think it would be a good idea to try and play ice hockey? Well, it's good to get out of your comfort zone isn't it? Probably one of the hardest, most embarrassing things we've done this year. And one of the funniest family experiences. Would you like a match?

NEW VIDEO: Kynren Show - a Spectacular British History Lesson

This is probably the best English history lesson you'll ever see. Kynren is the biggest outdoor spectacle in the UK since the 2012 Olympics. Set outdoors, below Bishop Auckland Castle, with over a thousand actors performing, this show tells the story of a thousand years of British history in an incredibly immersive way. With limited performances this summer (2017), Kynren by
+Eleven Arches is worth a special trip to the North East for.

NEW VIDEO: Lake District Outdoor Cinema

As part of a collaboration with +BenQ Europe we visited Windermere one summer's evening armed with popcorn, drinks and a BenQ GS1 portable outdoor projector. Our mission: to rig our own outdoor cinema, watch the sun go down and then enjoy a movie of our own. It was all a bit of a surprise for Hannah who thought we were actually going to the cinema. Check out this video to see how to create your own outdoor cinema evening.
