Ugh, Niantic deleted one of my favourite hiking portals
Appeal Category: Portal Removed
Portal Title: Leechtown Cairn
City, Region and Country: Sooke, British Columbia, Canada
Lat/Long: 48.495777, -123.711601
Reason/comments: This portal was one of the original seed portals, as was evident by the fact that the image associated with it was from Panoramio. Located on a road to the now-abandoned gold rush town of Leechtown, the cairn marked the entrance to what is now a ghost town. It commemorates the fact that the town once existed, and is a true part of Vancouver Island's history.

The portal is not accessible by vehicle, but can be reached by foot or bicycle via the Sooke Potholes and Kapoor Regional Parks, from the well-maintained Galloping Goose Trail that runs throughout Victoria and the Capital Regional District. It has been captured by both the Resistance and the Enlightened in the past - the Resistance captured this portal in August of this year from its previous Enlightened owners, who had made the trip a few months earlier.

Other than a long journey by foot or bicycle, there are no issues around access to this portal, and as such it should be reinstated.

Reason/comments: Alas, I don't have any photos of it. This cairn is from an old railway bridge that used to serve the mining town of Leechtown, BC, and it's one of very few traces of the town left. It is a fairly well-known landmark lots of people have visited; it can be accessed by the public via a fairly long hike.

#EnlightenedFirst  since without a doubt we are going to come out even further ahead in this series than the last one.
We have analyzed the results of the mission at document at UCSD.

Early Results:

- ADA attacked the Acolyte's compound
- OLW was not the target of the attack. He was given a warning 6 minutes before the attack to not be on site.
- The attackers targeted a cabin onsite at the compound, which the Enlightened defended with fanatical zeal.
- The attack was to confirm by ADA Roland Jarvis' body is in that cabin (which we have long suspected).
- Its believed the attack was an attempt to sever the bond between the Acolyte and Roland Jarvis; perhaps in order to weaken her.

In the same vein as the last one. Why can't someone like Neal Stephenson write these plots? :P #EnlightenedFirst

#ingressfirst. Most of you who are following me on here know what this is about and also that I totally ignore the plot, but it is nice to have an enlightened victory for a change.

Critics are questioning why small town police departments like the one in Ferguson, Mo. need armored Humvees and other military gear. Some lawmakers now want to curb the federal program that provides local law enforcement with military surplus weapons, vehicles and other equipment.

Aah yes, good sense.  Now that we have a failed example of a carbon tax, can people please can the negativity and actually do something that matters, like developing some technology or planting some trees or making some parks?
"Today, the tax that you voted to get rid of is finally gone: a useless, destructive tax which damaged jobs, which hurt families' cost of living and which didn't actually help the environment," Prime Minister Tony Abbott said.
