Do it with a plot or do it not
I think I am not alone loving numbers. If I should choose between numbers and letters I heartily would opt for numbers. Numbers are fascinating. Some people attribute colors to numbers, so when they see, let us say, number 8 they perceive it may be all white in a pink environment (like FAKTENHA.8 + US). So what might happen to them, confronted with a whole set of data. Perhaps is this the neural source of pointillism. Anyway numbers have special effects. They come along with a size and weight mixing dynamic. You can tell, they have a form. But can numbers become figures? Gene Zelazny, director of visual communication at McKinsey & Company, says: yes! He wrote a book about the topic. „Say it with Presentations“. It’s a well known classic in business consultancy, but now it gets a creative push by graphic design and the check-less trend of info-graphics. In my opinion info-graphics are a strong market, because they serve as direct answer to the dreaded information flooding. With an info-graphic information comes in nibbles, it is compact and optimized for neuronal information-processing. If the graphic is good, a prim concept put in a beautiful design, you hardly need words to explain what you show, you look on it and capture its meaning. Beyond that a well done graphic is an eye-catcher, attracting the attention of up to now uninterested persons.
But nice design alone does not make a good info-graphic. Info-graphics serve the purpose to present data and relations in a clear and popular way. To make ends meet you have to acquire and analyse data, because you will need them to build a story on. In fact, making an info-graphic has as much to do with storytelling as with figuration. Get inspired by the bag of tricks from the advertising film department. You should never decide over the look and feel of your info-graphic before you know its story. Only merging of data and design gives your picture the thrill. Therefore the work on an info-graphic starts with the writing of a story. Go! Write your plot ...

The hangout needs you ...

It’s better to have friends. Some of them nicely invited us to the Google+ Page, to join in to a page where they publicise live events. Google+ Hangouts! C’est pratique - you can find all the ongoing Google+ Hangout Events neatly listed. Google+ Hangouts was launched in summer 2012 and is now growing in popularity. So, may be we jump on the wave, and find some creative ways to use the hangouts for our own business.
The Google+ Hangout makes it possible to share information and to communicate with our FAKTENHAUS-friends wherever they are  - on an expert level with a time saving benefit by reduce of travel time. Friends can participate either on a web-based stream or on a device-based application. As the Google+ Hangout is a very simple to set up free service, it is a great alternative to webinars. Although in FAKTENHAUS-country Germany we may have to place particular focus on issues of media legislation, the hangout is a treasure chest:

• We can share our screens with friends
• We can host a video-chat up to 9 people
• A friend can sign in to a chat and ask a question
• We can share files and documents
• We can offer customized coaching sessions
• For in-house meetings we record hangouts for later viewings
• We can watch a YouTube Video together and chat alongside with a friend
• If we feel confident enough we can broadcast live to the world

New kids on the hangout, we now plan to host a few how-to-chats to show what we can do for your social media presence, search marketing and mobile websites. Meanwhile we are just glad to meet you in the hangout soon: http://www.google.com/intl/de/+/learnmore/hangouts/onair.html
