Coffee is the world’s 2nd most tradable commodity after oil, and that is evidenced by the sheer number of coffee shops popping up and down everywhere in the world.

Farmers receive no more than 10% from the retail price. In order to satisfy global demand, competition among growers has led to price reductions but also undercutting.

Unfortunately, those suffering more from this stiff competition are the men, women and children from these coffee growing developing countries including Uganda, Ethiopia and Kenya

After feeling the positive impact this week after one school's transition to Fairtrade uniforms, let us take you to Senegal to show you where the impact of that purchase decision is really received.

This is the site of a Fairtrade cotton farm, the first step in producing a Fairtrade garment. Cotton is the main source of income for locals here, they share their stories of how Fairtrade has helped them to receive a fair deal for their work.

Glad we're working together with #EkoriansMugieCamp on the #FairtradeOnHoliday program!
Good morning y'all. We're enjoying a ‪#‎Fairtrade‬ breakfast at the camp today. We were the first hospitality establishment to partner with them last year in support of our East African small-scale farmers by stocking ‪#‎FairtradeMarked‬ products including ‪#‎DormansCoffee‬, ‪#‎KerichoGold‬ teas & ‪#‎FairtradeWines‬ from ‪#‎SouthAfrica‬.
