We're inching towards that next Patreon milestone! What would it sound like to have custom music for #ExtraHistory? Follow the link to have a listen!
One of the challenges of producing the Extra History series has been finding appropriate music that we can license for our outro at the end of the episode. We think that's a lot better than a generic theme song, but between the historical age and sometimes the obscurity of our content, it can be a bit difficult to find the right material! Enter Sean and Dean Kiner, fellow fans and patrons of the show. They saw our milestone goal to hire a musici...

+Overhazard Right on. That's the type of discernment I'm working to instill in my kids. "Don't spend time (or money) on things that are not worth your time (or money)" ;)

+Extra Credits i want to recommend a game for James it is: In Verbis Virtus. a indie FPS puzzle game, where you must find different spells in order to solve puzzles to progress. the way you use the spells is through voice recognition. it is the only game I have played that relies so much on that feature and does it very well. and the artwork in the game is beautiful, detailed and fits the mood perfectly. the downside in my opinion is to remember all the different words, without opening the list of them all to check.

it is available on steam

I hope to see his opinion on it sometime

+Sonata Dusk You seem to be confused. Good deals is not equivalent to "caring about your fanbase." It's good for business, and thankfully THAT is also good for players. However, nothing about Half-Life 2 is good for players. It has literally about a third of the content of the original. In Half-Life 1, you fight a wide array of enemies and bosses with a huge array of imaginative weapons. In Half-Life 2, you fight against combine soldiers with generic-ass FPS weapons. The gravity gun isn't an excuse to cut over half of the weapons. Furthermore, as we know, they greedily split up the game into episodes (and released them SLOW AS FUCK) to nickel and dime the shit out of the fanboys.

The most important part of becoming an adult is discerning the difference between when you WANT something to be true and when the evidence actually proves that it's true. It's okay that you like Valve; but stop pretending they're not money-hungry and exploitative as shit.

+Anthony VP The problem is, I am not quite confusing them since they are not directly comparable.  'free market' is an abstract that can ONLY exist with no other influences on it, it is a simplified model that removes people and all other possible power structures and thus is the only force in play.   It is useful for building toy systems (and selling books) because it reduces a complex system to a single force.

'Crony capitalism' is when you start to add those other forces back in.  While typically spoken of in terms of state control, the models involved do not even require one, the same patterns come up with pretty much any institution taking the same roles.
