We booked our wedding 10 months in advance and for the approaching 8 months I had sent approximately ten emails wanting to discuss our wedding and we didn’t hear from Gloria more than a couple of times. I would email her and it would take 2 weeks to respond with a vague reply. I had to bring two suitcases with decorations (signs, centrepieces, table numbers, candles, fans, petals, name place cards, happy hour props, guest book etc.) to personalise our wedding as Gloria wouldn’t help. Due to the lack of communication from Gloria, I put together a wedding ‘run sheet’ with everything I wanted for décor, ceremony/reception location, food, music, type of wedding, furniture, flowers, cake etc. and all of this was from the gold package which we paid for. Despite this, Gloria booked us the wrong type of wedding (symbolic not legal), charged us extra for the décor because our selection was more ‘premier’ than in the gold package (which is the highest package available). On the wedding day she was late to collect the bridal party from the room and to bring the corsages and boutonnieres so the groomsmen and our mother’s missed out on wearing them ($150 gone to waste). Gloria neglected to tell us there was approximately 80m of sand between the path and the pier we had to walk on, but she did offer us the option of renting a wooden runner for $900! We passed on that offer. Needless to say my bridesmaids and I struggled when walking in our high heels. When we sat down to dinner, I noticed all of the candles were not lit in the centrepieces. I looked in the centrepiece and there was water in them and the candle had sunk. I started tipping all the water out and trying to light them. My friend went up to Gloria and asked why there was water in the centrepieces and Gloria pointed to me and said ‘because SHE told me to’. Which was completely false; the candles and centrepieces that I had brought all the way from Australia were never supposed to have water in it and I had explained that to her. I had to ask Gloria if there were waiters to serve beverages to our guests because within the space of an hour, they had only been served one drink. After the wedding was all said and done, we go to depart the resort and in the midst of us packing our room and saying goodbye to family and friends, I accidently left my wedding dress in the resort closet. We flew out Sunday morning and had another wedding reception with the extended family the following Saturday. I was calling and emailing the hotel reception and Gloria trying to arrange to have the dress Fedex’d to me. I looked up the specific service that would get the dress to me in time and gave them my credit card details for the order. Another day went past and I hadn’t heard back. When I called the resort the front desk said that Gloria was ‘too busy to speak with me and will return my phone call’ but she never did. The front desk refused to let me speak to hotel management (besides the reception manager) and it took me five days of continuous calls and emails to get through to Gloria. By the time that I did get through to her Gloria said she wouldn’t have time to send it to me so I had to buy another wedding dress for my reception (an additional $1,800). We even had our external trip coordinator (who has had many dealing with the resort and also recommended Gloria) try to help and even she had no luck. She was astonished at the lack of service we were receiving. It took me a month to get my wedding dress back and when I did, the beading and stitching along the bodice was badly damaged and there was a rip down the side, clearly caused by poor handling. For any bride who is thinking of getting married at this resort, I would think twice. I could keep writing on all the things that went wrong but I think you get the picture. If anyone has any questions or wants more information, please email me because I don’t want any bride experiencing what I have.

This was one of our best trips to the Riviera Maya area. The Excellence Riviera was a great resort with all we were looking for. The rooms were clean and well maintained. The staff and service were very prompt, and always helpful. The bars were all well stocked with many choices of top shelf liquor. My only complaint was that the pools were on the cool side. One person said that the heaters were not on because of on-going construction (that's fine and unavoidable) but another said that they were not running the heaters because attendance was down. The pools were not cold, but you did not feel like sitting still having a drink.

We went for our honeymoon on a recommendation from a friend. With out a doubt, wonderful service, great food, hotel was perfect, food was great. If you go in September, the crowd is minimal which makes the experience that much better. I will definitely be returning!

We had our wedding here April 11th 2015. This resort was amazing. BEAUTIFUL. Yes a little seaweed on the beach , but nothing compared to the other resorts along the beach. Excellence tried o remove it at least. They have awesome entertainment and shows every night at the theater. They have 11 restaurants. Barcelona was our favorite for breakfast, they have a huge buffet of food. Pretty much everything I had was great to eat, except the sausage for breakfast lol. They do have dress codes , you have to wear collard shirts for men at night, but it was fun to dress up for dinner time. The staff was Extremely nice. One of them even remembered are names even time she saw us and asked how we were. They went out of their way to help. They have daily activities you can participate in too.. volleyball, dancing, crafts, ping pong, Spanish lessons bingo, card games, yoga..etc. My husband did boom a deep sea fishing tour with the aqua world tours located at the hotel, but we later found out they are not operated by the hotel and learned we could get it cheaper through the tour people like Olympus at the hotel by the front desk. The beds were a little hard but I still got good sleep. The fridges In the room were stocked Daily with beer water candy & wine... Huge showers and nice clean rooms, also a jacuzzi tub in the room.. We had a beautiful view over looking the pool and the ocean on the 3rd floor. It was a little hot In our room. It stayed 73 degrees ,and the staff couldn't seem to figure out the problem. But our friends had very cold rooms. They have a lazy river , it's a light current that pushes you around a circular pool. Very relaxing. The crowd is a bit older. I'm 26, my husband 31. And the night life wasn't alot of young party people, so if your looking for that this isn't it. However the sports bar is open the latest, till 1am I think and they have awesome drinks and seemed to be where the younger crowd hung out. We took a walk on the beach front the resort to downtown puerto morelos to go shopping. It was about 35 MIns. This is how I know that other resorts have nastier seaweed covered beaches. :) took a cab back it was only $15. We had over wedding on a Saturday. We had the love package. It didn't come with music for reception, I was bummed at that. But everything turned out well. We just brought a speaker and plugged in to our phone. Pictures from the photographer were a available the next day. I also had my hair and makeup done at the done which was nice. The merchandise in the store at the resort is costly so make sure to bring your own medicine, lube, condoms, dress shirts, sunglasses etc. Overall we had a great time. Very relaxing, chill place. Great for couples or family.

Our whole trip was unbelievable. We started out arriving to the front door opening and champagne waiting for us. After, we were escorted to our room and along the way we got a tour of the resort so we knew where everything. The bellman even gave us a tour of the room so we knew how everything worked. We made it a point to try every restaurant at the resort and we were not disappointed with any of the. Every staff member we encountered was extremely welcome, kind, and helpful. There is entertainment and events throughout the day and the night time entertainment is awesome. This was our first time at an all inclusive resort and I know we picked the right one. We will be back!
