We had our wedding here April 11th 2015. This resort was amazing. BEAUTIFUL. Yes a little seaweed on the beach , but nothing compared to the other resorts along the beach. Excellence tried o remove it at least. They have awesome entertainment and shows every night at the theater. They have 11 restaurants. Barcelona was our favorite for breakfast, they have a huge buffet of food. Pretty much everything I had was great to eat, except the sausage for breakfast lol. They do have dress codes , you have to wear collard shirts for men at night, but it was fun to dress up for dinner time. The staff was Extremely nice. One of them even remembered are names even time she saw us and asked how we were. They went out of their way to help. They have daily activities you can participate in too.. volleyball, dancing, crafts, ping pong, Spanish lessons bingo, card games, yoga..etc. My husband did boom a deep sea fishing tour with the aqua world tours located at the hotel, but we later found out they are not operated by the hotel and learned we could get it cheaper through the tour people like Olympus at the hotel by the front desk. The beds were a little hard but I still got good sleep. The fridges In the room were stocked Daily with beer water candy & wine... Huge showers and nice clean rooms, also a jacuzzi tub in the room.. We had a beautiful view over looking the pool and the ocean on the 3rd floor. It was a little hot In our room. It stayed 73 degrees ,and the staff couldn't seem to figure out the problem. But our friends had very cold rooms. They have a lazy river , it's a light current that pushes you around a circular pool. Very relaxing. The crowd is a bit older. I'm 26, my husband 31. And the night life wasn't alot of young party people, so if your looking for that this isn't it. However the sports bar is open the latest, till 1am I think and they have awesome drinks and seemed to be where the younger crowd hung out. We took a walk on the beach front the resort to downtown puerto morelos to go shopping. It was about 35 MIns. This is how I know that other resorts have nastier seaweed covered beaches. :) took a cab back it was only $15. We had over wedding on a Saturday. We had the love package. It didn't come with music for reception, I was bummed at that. But everything turned out well. We just brought a speaker and plugged in to our phone. Pictures from the photographer were a available the next day. I also had my hair and makeup done at the done which was nice. The merchandise in the store at the resort is costly so make sure to bring your own medicine, lube, condoms, dress shirts, sunglasses etc. Overall we had a great time. Very relaxing, chill place. Great for couples or family.

Our whole trip was unbelievable. We started out arriving to the front door opening and champagne waiting for us. After, we were escorted to our room and along the way we got a tour of the resort so we knew where everything. The bellman even gave us a tour of the room so we knew how everything worked. We made it a point to try every restaurant at the resort and we were not disappointed with any of the. Every staff member we encountered was extremely welcome, kind, and helpful. There is entertainment and events throughout the day and the night time entertainment is awesome. This was our first time at an all inclusive resort and I know we picked the right one. We will be back!

The road to the resort was trashed due to the recent storms so be prepared for a little longer trip. I reserved 4 rooms and were confirmed through a travel agent but they only had three rooms for us when we registered. It took a little time and few phone calls, but they got me in. They were nice enough to give me and my wife a spa treatment for the trouble. They forgot to take it off the bill when checking out though. It seems as though they are not the most organized but they try very hard to make things right. Several times during our stay the water pressure was extremely low or off entirely in our room. The food and service was great. Rooms are very nice too.

This was one of our best trips to the Riviera Maya area. The Excellence Riviera was a great resort with all we were looking for. The rooms were clean and well maintained. The staff and service were very prompt, and always helpful. The bars were all well stocked with many choices of top shelf liquor. My only complaint was that the pools were on the cool side. One person said that the heaters were not on because of on-going construction (that's fine and unavoidable) but another said that they were not running the heaters because attendance was down. The pools were not cold, but you did not feel like sitting still having a drink.

We went for our honeymoon on a recommendation from a friend. With out a doubt, wonderful service, great food, hotel was perfect, food was great. If you go in September, the crowd is minimal which makes the experience that much better. I will definitely be returning!

The resort itself is very beautiful and well maintained. The restaurants are excellent and the service is awesome. The spa was nothing short of amazing. There were two things that were not up to standard. The first was the road going into the resort. The road was washed out and had drops of 2-3' and were covered with water. We came in at night and couldn't believe the condition of this road. Our van even stalled because of the sudden drops. The road needs to be built on an elevation immediately. We didn't leave the resort to do anything because the road was that bad. My shoulder was injured when we hit a pothole and I was thrown into the window. Also the rooms smell very musty. IF you can deal with these two things, you will enjoy the resort.

Friendly staff, nice hotel, good food, great location, no kids, a high level of cleanliness and a variety of interesting activities. Overall, an excellent hotel. "All inclusive" means a lot more than other places I've stayed and includes snacks, room service and the minibar in your room. Watersports equipment and lessons are included, and the hotel has many kayaks (mostly two person), 3 Hobie Cats, 2 stand-up paddleboards, a few windsurfers and a smaller sailboat. There are about 20 bikes (including 3 tandems) that are used for a daily trip to nearby Puerto Morelos for a quick look at the town. I don't know if the bikes can be used at other times. There are plenty of planned activities each day. Active ones included guided walks along the beach, beach volleyball, pool volleyball, water aerobics, archery, daily bike rides, kayak tour, air rifle shooting, tennis, and physical fitness things like zumba, yoga and balance ball. Other activities included learning Spanish, a music quiz and bingo. Overall, plenty to do for those that don't just want to toast in the sun. The hotel has about 5 pools and this works well as the ones near the bars tend to be busy and full of people that want to drink and socialize, whereas the ones near the south end of the property are much quieter for those that want to chill out. There are plenty of sun loungers, most under thatched umbrellas. Several pools have a shallow underwater ledge which seats a row of plastic sun loungers, which is a nice touch if you want to lie in the sun surrounded by water. The beach is protected by a coral reef, so the waves aren't too big. There is a swimming area marked by buoys and a lifeguard on duty during the day for less confident swimmers. One negative is that there is an over-powering smell, probably of sewage, at the northwestern part of the hotel, near the tennis courts. As this is near the main road I suspect it may be a problem outside the hotel's control, but tennis players are going to have to put up with the stench until the source of the problem is fixed. My wife and I agree that this is the best hotel we've ever stayed at. We normally try different parts of the world every time we go on vacation, but we had such a great time that we will probably return.
