How to troubleshoot this annoying problem.
Repeated light bulb burnout can be annoying. If you’ve had that problem, this story may help you resolve it without calling us.

A customer recently wrote to us with this issue. “I replaced the bulb on our outdoor light 3 times and the bulbs burn out overnight.”

Greg Wells, Director of Operations for Frye Electric, has a few suggestions. Give them a try before you contact an electrician and have to pay for a service call. It might be an easy fix that you can do yourself and save both time and money.

Remove musty odors from your towels by washing them in very hot water with one-to-two cups of vinegar. The water must by very hot in order to kill the bacteria causing the smell. Wash them again using one cup of baking soda. Immediately hang them up to dry or dry them in your clothes dryer.

If your dishwasher will not start or turn on, there are a few parts you can check on that might be causing the problem. Replacing one of these dishwasher parts might get your dishwasher back up and running again. Whether your dishwasher is made by Whirlpool, Kenmore, Frigidaire, KitchenAid, Maytag, or Bosch, the parts on your dishwasher will work in a similar way.

If your oven is displaying a fault code (F1, F2, E3, etc.) first try clearing or disconnecting the power to the unit for 30 seconds, then reconnecting to see if that clears the code. If not, you could have a faulty electronic control board.

Before calling the repairman, use the internet to try to figure out what could be wrong with your appliance. It might be a small fix, or even just a matter of cleaning your appliance, or a part on your appliance — something you can do yourself.
