AppMyDay- A Private Social Space for Events [Review]

AppMyDay provides a space to build an event community and social media engagement in one place, rather than disjointedly across multiple public networks. It acts as a “social middleman” for events allowing event organizers to create their own unique online social space, where attendees can share content and interact during the event, providing a virtual record.

However you should never stop learning and improving or you risk being left behind. Training and most importantly experience is what propels any event planner from good to awesome.

Having the support of a great team is however another essential to make a truly great event planner and the formula to producing many successful events.

How Micro Moments are Changing Attendee Behavior

As mobile devices continue to blur the boundaries between the event attendees’ personal and professional lives, we are seeing a fundamental shift in how they consume and interact with an event’s updates and information to plan ahead.

To meet the high expectations of the ever growing number of ‘mobile’ attendees who have almost ubiquitous access to hand-held devices and WiFi connectivity, event organizers need to familiarize themselves with emerging micro moments-based behavior patterns.

How to Get Over an Unsuccessful Event

We’ve all felt it: the gut sinking feeling that comes from planning an event that turns out to be a flop. There is nothing more devastating for an #eventprof than to put countless hours of work and ingenuity into crafting a valuable experience for your client and their attendees, only to feel when all's said and done, as if your work wasn’t good enough.

Here are a few simple ways you can take your failed event and turn it into a platform for future success.

Are Event Planners Born or Made?

When working with volunteers and new staff you can quickly get a feel for those who ‘have it’ and those who don’t. For some it seems second nature to anticipate the needs of attendees, to be of a friendly and approachable disposition and to be the last to leave an event if there is still work to be done.

Others seem to have missed out on important people skills, are fixated on their aching feet above all else and seem to only work in go-slow-mode.

How Micro Moments are Changing Attendee Behavior

Event participants now expect access to smart mobile resources even before they register to attend an event. Indeed, the very availability of mobile-ready solutions may become a catalyst in driving their continued engagement with your event and brand.

As you plan for your next event, we recommend reviewing your technology choices carefully to ensure that your team can successfully cater to the attendees’ intent-rich, demanding micro moments.

Introduction

Social Media and Events | Event Technology | Event Trends | Event Inspiration | Destination Management Marketing | Meeting Planning

Started in 2007, Event Manager Blog is the number one blog worldwide for event planners.

The blog was started by Julius Solaris a technology and social media enthusiast.

What do we cover and why is it important

Our mission is to give event professionals advice, reports and tools to make their job easier. We feel that technology and social media should be seen as an opportunity rather than a burden.

We've been consistently showing over the last 6 years how to take advantage of new trends and technologies.

We recently launched a Store where we periodically launch new tools for event and meeting planners.

The topic areas we cover are:

- Event Planning

- Event Inspiration

- Event Technology

- Social Media for Events

- Hospitality Marketing
