Check out this #photosphere of one of the best kite boarding beaches in Maui, Hawaii. I took a few lessons this week... So much fun!

Great shot.. ;-) Seeing that Naish kite and that directional board brings back some memories..

There's 'kiteboard' and 'kitesurf'. Two styles of which the latter is the old school one I always liked best. Hence.. I always used one kite and three boards: https://plus.google.com/+RudydeGroot/posts/FJ3Se7kioeX

It gave a great wind range..

This is the most beautiful way to view a #photosphere  that I've ever seen. Amazing job +Glenn Stevens. I'd love to buy one!

Google Walnut. I tried the cardboard, but I'm better with wood. Using it to showcase photo spheres of 3D rendered architectural spaces. Would really like to take advantage of the stereo view to get the full 3D effect. Anyone know how to create 3D photo spheres and display them?

I'm super excited about the YouTube 360 video launch we just announced. I helped kick off this project with the YouTube team back when I worked on Street View and Photo Sphere. Here's a video I created on Lanikai Beach in Hawaii, one of my favorite spots in the world.

Captured with two Kodak SP360 cameras and stitched with Autopano Video.

Walking around Google[x] often feels like looking into the future. This is a line of self driving cars ready to go. Imagine how different cities will be. The impact here is nearly unfathomable.

As far as I'm aware - at least in the UK - EMP devices are illegal (possibly similar categories as firearms)

In that regard, it's like saying "but a car could be stopped with a roadside bomb!"

I don't mean to be totally flippant, but yes - you're right. An EMP could possibly cause a self-driving car to crash. In the same way that a brick through the windscreen of a regular human-driven car would probably cause it to crash. It's a very specific threat - and probably not one to spend too much time worrying about.

RIP +Dan Fredinburg
Today we lost one of the great ones far too soon. Dan was a true adventurer at heart and died doing what he loved. He did as much as anyone I know to bring the amazing far-off reaches of the planet to all of us. The world feels a little less exciting now without him in it.

I was always inspired by his optimism, passion, love for exploring, and commitment to make the world a better place. My conversations and brainstorms with Dan were some of the most fun ones I've had at Google. You won't meet many people like him.

I got to know Dan when I worked with him on the Google Street View Trekker program. If you've explored our Street View panoramas of the world's highest peaks, you can say "Thanks Dan". #thanksdan

Next time you're enjoying the great outdoors, gazing upon the infinite expanse of mountains and valleys and the impossible beauty of Mother Nature, please think of Dan.

To Dan's family, my thoughts are with you. He was an excellent human being and the world is truly better because of him. Thank you.

Is there a easy way to post photospheres out of a Ricoh Theta to Google maps?

Very impressive indeed! Thanks for sharing, +Evan Rapoport!

Judging by the pixel density, my guess would be that this is taken from something like the second generation Ricoh Theta?

I love the blending of indoor and outdoor spaces in Google's new campus proposal.

#architecture   #officespace   #workspace   #google

Today we're submitting a proposal to redevelop part of our campus in North Bayshore. With our proposed plan, our campus could be more adaptable to a changing company, bring new life to the environment, save energy, and create a sense of community with bike paths and space for local businesses. Ultimately, we hope to create a space for people, nature and ideas to thrive. Learn more: http://g.co/go/y6pnk

Product Manager, Google[x]
Introduction
I am a Product Manager at Google[x] working on something really cool. I wish I could tell you about it.

Previously I was a Product Manager on several photography products within Google Maps, including Views (g.co/views), Photo Sphere (g.co/photosphere), and Street View.

My hobbies include photography, hiking, standup paddling, and reading. I feel drawn to the ocean at all times. Check out my Views profile to photos of my travels.

A few highlights from my bucket list...
  • Change the world
  • Write a children's book
  • Go to the Northwest Hawaiian Islands
  • Make a huge donation to my favorite charity
  • Give a TED talk
  • Hike to Mount Everest base camp
  • Swim with a whale shark
* All opinions here are my own and not necessarily those of my employer.
Bragging rights
I've surfed 10 foot waves in Hawaii. I camped for seven weeks in Yosemite National Park. And I've been to 44 of the 50 US states.

What a picture perfect location in the Santa Cruz Mountains bear Los Gatos. The views and landscaping are incredible. We enjoyed their wines so much we became wine club members. They are only open to the public on the third weekend of the month, so be sure to call ahead before going.

They never respond to requests in a timely manner to requests. Emails and phone calls go un-returned. Not good.

This is possibly one of the worst Italian restaurants I've ever visited. Do NOT go here. I went to their Los Gatos restaurant because it's close to my new home, hoping it would be better than their Los Altos location (which is equally horrendous). It's not. I started with the worst Caesar Salad I've ever had. Come on, how do you f*%# that up? Next I had a piece of chicken that was way overcooked, made worse by the eggplant on it that was far undercooked. I told the waiter and they brought me another dish. This time the chicken was cooked fine but still the sauce was uninspired and the eggplant was chewy and undercooked. Little things were the waiter's lack of attention to us and his wine recommendation, which was piss poor. Considering how expensive this place is, I'd expect a waiter who knew the wine list. The ambiance of the restaurant is very nice, so I suspect that's the only reason people go there. I on the other hand will never go again.

It's rare I give a 5 star rating on a first visit, but I really loved this place. Excellent ahi sandwich and tomato soup. Extensive beer and wine menu. Very cool laid back ambiance as well. Friendly service.
