Product Manager, Google[x]
Introduction
I am a Product Manager at Google[x] on the Rapid Evaluation team, which is responsible for creating new moonshot ideas to make the world a radically better place.

Previously I was a Product Manager on several photography products within Google Maps, including Views (g.co/views), Photo Sphere (g.co/photosphere), and Street View.

My hobbies include photography, hiking, standup paddling, blogging, reading, mentoring startups and students, and daydreaming about the ocean.

A few highlights from my bucket list...
  • Change the world
  • Write a children's book
  • Go to the Northwest Hawaiian Islands
  • Make a huge donation to my favorite charity
  • Give a TED talk
  • Hike to Mount Everest base camp
  • Swim with a whale shark
* All opinions here are my own and not necessarily those of my employer.
Bragging rights
I've surfed 10 foot waves in Hawaii. I camped for seven weeks in Yosemite National Park. And I've been to 44 of the 50 US states.

Obama announces a plan to increase computer science education. Very important. Nice job, Mr. President.
President Obama unveiled an ambitious $4 billion plan to expand computer science education in America. What does it include?

That wonderful, but will it help teach our youth how to make change from the cash drawer without the computer telling them? Or how to maintain and balance a check book? Kids graduate today and have no clue.

Good article on how to publish your #photosphere to +Google Maps and Street View. This allows people to view them in #virtualreality using +Google Cardboard

http://gadgets.ndtv.com/internet/features/how-to-share-vr-photos-on-google-maps-793079
You can use your smartphone to shoot photospheres that anyone can see on Google Maps.

Truth stranger than fiction. A giant insect species that is coming back from presumed extinction. Now it's up to the people living in its original habitat to accept its reintroduction. What I find most interesting is that this wouldn't be a question if it were a cute little mammal, bird, or even reptile. But an ugly giant insect? Cuteness is an important evolutionary trait if humans control your destiny.
The insect is so large — as big as a human hand — it's been dubbed a "tree lobster." It was thought to be extinct, but some enterprising entomologists scoured a barren hunk of rock in the middle of the ocean and found surviving Lord Howe Island stick insects.

Great story. I hope it ends well for the critters.

I couldn't agree more. Well-said, Andrew Yang.

"If there’s one way that Silicon Valley can lead and distance itself from critiques of insularity and out-of-touchness, it’s to tackle the big, thorny, difficult problems that would improve the state of the world."
What are the things that are starting to freak people out about Silicon Valley? There are a few themes that come up again and again.

So glad to see the Street View Trekker loan program is going strong after a few years. Where do you want Trekker to go? #streetview #travel
Google is loaning out Trekkers -- Street View camera backpacks -- to groups looking to capture areas unreachable by cars.

Kakenya Ntaiya: A girl who demanded school #TED :http://go.ted.com/hvNpww
Kakenya Ntaiya made a deal with her father: She would undergo the traditional Maasai rite of passage of female circumcision if he would let her go to high school. Ntaiya tells the fearless story of continuing on to college, and of working with her village elders to build a school for girls in her community. It’s the educational journey of one that altered the destiny of 125 young women. (Filmed at TEDxMidAtlantic.)

Google Photos update – Photo sphere support on web

From Taj Mahal to Machu Picchu, people around the world love to take and share amazingly immersive photo spheres.

We heard your feedback – you can now view and explore your uploaded photo spheres in Google Photos on the web. Viewing photo spheres is also supported on the mobile web and in the Android app.

New to photo spheres and 360° photography? Use the Google Camera app on Android, or the Google Street View app on Android and iOS, to explore and shoot your own, and view them on +Google Cardboard to take things to the next level.

If you don't yet have any photo spheres of your own, see photo spheres from around the world created by the +Google Maps team at google.com/maps/streetview/.

Start exploring your photo spheres at photos.google.com, and share your best ones with #PhotoSphere.

+Evan Rapoport It appears the ability to view photospheres has been removed from the new browser Google+ (or at least I can figure out how to do it - am I missing something?).

Is this a bug/oversight or is this intended?

One of my favorite wineries anywhere. They're really friendly in the tasting room and will help people learn, whether you're a newbie to wine or already very knowledgeable.

Omelette wasn't good. Red velvet pancakes were creative, but only ok. Coffee was weak. Service was slow, though friendly.

Best bagels on the island. I'm from NY, so I'm very picky about my bagels.

The food was very disappointing and the service was slow and rude. I rarely say that, but that was our experience.
