WhereIP

Some decent examples of using:
-IntentService
-LocalBroadcastManager
-Google Maps API for Android

Check it out and follow the link to the source code.
Ever wanted to know where in the world a particular IP address was?  Here you go, WhereIP.  I completed this a few weeks ago, but didn't get a chance to upload the source code until now. Check it o...

Just spend a ridiculous amount of time implementing CollapsingToolbarLayout.  I learned you HAVE to use the support version (and AppCompatActivity) for it to actually collapse. ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)

Times like these I'm grateful for the fact that all of Android source code is available to examine.

Fact: Hangouts has a vocal minority of users who'll never be happy. I actually think it's a great update. I can finally receive group texts as a group text on my Google (Alphabet) Voice number.

The curious case of Google Hangouts 4 for Android. Apparently disappointment in this app has become legendary at this point. For what it is, seems like it should be easier to build, but there's probably more going with Hangouts than I realize.

Hangouts 4 for Android is still not done but getting closer to an internal beta, so don't expect it quite yet.

The versions I tried in the last few weeks performed like crap too, probably even slower than v3, and if released like that, I will without hesitation slam it for that. Historically, Hangouts has been probably the slowest Google app I've used, and I just don't see it getting any better.

Some examples include:
- Sending SMS. Sometimes you press send, then 15 seconds nothing happens. Then finally it pops into the chat view saying "sending" and finally sends. What the %#$^ is taking so long for the UI to update with the message I just typed?
- Seeing a conversation getting marked read. I click into an unread conversation. Click out. It remains bold for a good 2-5 seconds sometimes.
- Loading chats in general - sometimes very slow, piece by piece. You can see like 4 different chat areas load independently from each other (avatar, conversation, bottom bar, text inside the input field).

I really hope they concentrate on performance next, but don't count on it at v4 release.

Great tips by +Colt McAnlis. I began using Glide in PrēmoFM last week. Amazed by the difference it made.
