Two things, one, as a religious person who is also strictly scientific in his beliefs, I don't see how a person who truly does believe in a God that creates the universe can ever be satisfied with "well, I guess that God did it," and simply move on. A truly motivated religious person (like Newton) wants to understand HOW God put the world together to better understand the "mind" of God at the very least.
Also I feel compelled to point out that Neil DeGrasse Tyson has frequently pointed out that while people call him an atheist, he is not. To be an atheist is to take a position on the existence or non-existence of God. Neil, on the other hand, does neither. He is and always has been an avowed agnostic, meaning that he simply doesn't have an answer. I would assume as a scientist, if compelling evidence indicated either that God exists or he doesn't, Neil would similarly adjust his opinion of the matter.
