Jerry Pournelle, PhD, has passed. I have read an enormous amount of his writing, both fiction and non-fiction. Our home is named Cheshire Hall, in part due to his Chaos Manor. He presented strong ideas, and regardless if you agreed with them, he presented them well, which is what makes an author worth reading.

He was also a fierce advocate for personal computing, a concept we now take for granted (possibly too much), but which was a revolution not too long ago. It was one he participated in, affecting the industry with his column and being the first author to write a published book on a computer, an old CP/M. My console windows are themed in "Pournelle," a custom made pale yellow on deep blue, for his famed ideal writing color scheme.

May his writings endure and his family thrive.
