A while back I made a blog post about our federal debt (now $19 trillion) and why it's not so bad.
I have heard a lot of fear-mongering about US debt. It has skyrocketed from $10 trillion under Bush to $19 trillion (as of 4/15/2016) under Obama. It’s craaaazy, it’s ok, and I’ll tell you why. Why is our soul-crushing debt OK? Let’s first define what national debt is and how we get it. Congress passes a …

Scammers have called me again (this time from 406-893-2166). After chatting him up for a bit I told him I knew he was trying to hack into my computer using Free Fast Forwarding (www . fff . re/8y92). He said, "we are not hackers. We are scammers." Do I forgive him for his honesty?

I received another call from PCHelpAndSupprt .com telling my computer has malware installed on it. She wanted me to run eventvwr to check my computer. The call came from the Atlanta area (404-636-6205) and the phone number is fraudulent.

I then told her that Microsoft states on their site that they will never call anyone about malware on their computer. She said she was not from Microsoft. I asked if she was not from Microsoft, how did she receive information about my computer. She then berated me about only wanting to help. I said that is a noble cause and restated my question. She berated me more and I restated my question. She called me an idiot. I asked her "was it the fact that I outsmarted you that made you angry?" She hung up.

What happens when someone dies alone? I found this article fascinating as well as sobering: http://0nk.net/1QIxA9x Be grateful for your loved ones this Thanksgiving. #GiveThanks
Each year around 50,000 people die in New York, some alone and unseen. Yet death even in such forlorn form can cause a surprising amount of activity. Sometimes, along the way, a life’s secrets are revealed.

No longer a buffet, so we thought we'd have a go. Disappointing. The vegetables were obviously a frozen mix from the grocery store. The sauces tasted bottled. The meats were also frozen bulk pack. Overall the food was unremarkable. The service was good, the two grandmas and younger white guy were helpful and nice, but service does not a restaurant make. All plates were $8-9. I recommend spending a couple more dollars and going to Taste of Sichuan up the road where the food is much, much better.

Authentic sushi. It kinda feels like some people bought a restaurant for their family to hang out. Not fancy, good food. It's about $8/plate for sushi, but you should get noodles to go with it. They have good ramen and broths. We went right before going to the Keller Auditorium to see an opera.

We stopped by for burgers. They were delicious. Piled high, they all have amusing names. We didn't have breakfast, and there isn't much seating. I had the Redonkadonk burger which is the OMG burger with grilled cheese sandwiches instead of buns. My son had the Monstrosity which is the grilled cheese version of the Lil Mo. Good food at about $13/plate.

Took my wife for lunch on Saturday. They have soup and sandwiches (surprise). I had the clam chowder with a ham & swiss sandwich and my wife had the Thai pork with yellow curry soup with a roast beef sandwich. The food well exceeded my expectations for a sandwich shop and at $10 for the soup, sandwich & drink, was well worth it. Here's a few highlights: Not fancy, different ingredients, free refills, glass cups, wide variety of soups & sandwiches, and covered patio. I recommend this place for everyone.

Took my wife to Swank (the restaurant, Swine is the bar). We had a good time, but the food was amazing. We had a beef tartar starter, my wife had duck and I went decadent getting a filet mignon with foie gras. The prices vary depending on what you get, but plan for about $30/person for food. The food is worth it though, well cooked & properly seasoned.

They only serve breakfast. And what a breakfast. There were 6 of us and we had French toast (almond flavored & piled high), pancakes (huge & fluffy), biscuits & gravy (crunchy & delicious), and various omelets which were cooked well. $10 a plate is worth it. This is a diner with a lunch bar, booths, checkerboard floor and Americana all over the walls. The only thing missing is the salty waitresses, but nice folk work just as well.

Recommended by friends I went to see Dr. Carrier. I've talked with chiropractors before and usually I feel like it's a lot of snake oil, but I had an odd pain in my back so off I went. Dr. Carrier asked me a lot of questions trying to drill down to what the problem was. It was all very clinical, no smoke & mirrors. Before the session I made sure to talk to my insurance company about what they covered. The important phrase I remembered was "modalities." I let Dr. Carrier know what they said and he made suggestions based on that coverage. Something like "I recommend this to help with that, but that's a modality. Try this exercise instead at home and it should accomplish the same thing." So, good medical care, good information and make sure you know what's covered.
