On a warm Saturday afternoon in September, hundreds of cars cruise past an old white house on Richard Arrington Boulevard, perhaps carrying people to the Birmingham Zoo or Vulcan. No one seems to notice the sweet smell of incense lingering...

"Those in the legitimate know had less to gain emotionally from belittling me in a gendered way. Very few of them assumed I was a woman as some of the commenters above did.
I’m not trying to prove sexism here. Institutional sexism is the history of our species and it doesn’t need an assist from me. I just thought it was very interesting how when a large group of readers were confronted with information that challenged the quality of their knowledge, the first thing they did was make me a woman."
When people thought I was a woman they commented differently on my work.

Don't be angry at people working low wage jobs be angry at the rich upper management who make hundreds of times more money and could easily pay thier workers a living wage but don't want to cut into their own pile of cash.

A wonderful example of how the stories we tell ourselves about our experiences create the emotions we fee about them.    It isn't the facts that hurt us it is the stories we tell ourselves about what the facts mean.

"All my stories about him not caring, or not being there for me, instantly vanished in one conversation."

And I respect that.  I don't want to impose any beliefs on you.  And I don't want anyone to impose their beliefs on me.  Even as a Wiccan Priestess I don't try to impose beliefs on my students.

You have never really talked to me about your beliefs so I don't really know what you believe.  I know that atheists don't all believe the same things so I try not assume I know what people believe until they tell me.

Story
Introduction
I'm getting a lot of teachers in my circles.  I'm not a professional teacher myself but I come from a family of teachers. My dad was a college Professor of Linguistics, German, and Translation. My mom taught English as a Second Language in the public schools.  My primary area of interest is Sociology of Religion and Social Change. And I'm a lifelong learner.

This is my favorite restaurant! If you want real Chinese food order off the Szechwan menu. The "Chinese" menu has all the standard fare for un-adventurous Americans, all the things you can get at any Chinese take out in America. And it is perfectly good American Chinese food but the Szechwan menu has the real stuff, like beef tripe, pork intestines, jelly fish, and frog. I've tried them all. The hot chili warnings are not kidding. I have been working my way through the Szechwan menu. Some of my favorites are: Fish Filet w. Special Tofu In Hot Pot (the best tofu I have ever had), Crispy Chicken w. House Special Sauce (what sweet and sour chicken should be), Beijing Duck, and the Scallion Pancake Rolled w. Beef (four little beef sandwiches). The only items on the Szechwan menu that have not impressed me are a some of the soups. I recommend the Sliced Fish w. Sour Cabbage Soup if you can take the heat, and the Angelica Lamb Soup if you can take the bitter angelica root. Try the bubble tea, it comes with Popping Boba, tapioca pearls, or fruit jelly. And you can get it as an ice slush.
