Fifty years ago Captain Kirk and the crew of the starship Enterprise began their journey into space – the final frontier. Now, as the newest Star Trek film hits cinemas, the NASA/ESA Hubble space telescope is also exploring new frontiers, observing distant galaxies in the galaxy cluster Abell S1063 as part of the Frontier Fields programme. #Hubble #StarTrekBeyond

+European Space Agency, ESA, there's a big difference, between seeing it in telescope, and a movie about being able to actually see it close hand.

Oh, roddenberry vision's is that there are no war on earth, and people live on peace & coorporates globally. BEFORE, they creates that warp speed capable spacecraft.

Your countries put sanctions to Russia (while STILL hitch-hiking Russian rockets, which pretty much stupid & hypocrite acts). And topples a legitimate foreign goverment (qaddafy), and currently try to topples legitimate Syrian leader (which now your govt panicking, cause millions of that lawless country people emigrates to your lands now).

Comparing that telescope, with a movie based on Roddenberry vision's, is laughable at the very least...

This year, the +NASA underwater training mission for astronauts promises to be longer and better than ever. Starting on 21 July, space agencies will test technologies and research international crew behaviour for long-duration missions using a permanent underwater base off the coast of Florida. The crew includes ESA's Matthias Maurer from the European Astronaut Centre.

The 21st NASA Extreme Environment Mission Operations, or #NEEMO , sortie will enact a mission to #Mars to test equipment for astronauts. The six #aquanauts will spend 16 days 20 m underwater in their habitat and perform ‘waterwalks’ – by adjusting their buoyancy, the aquanauts can simulate Mars gravity.

#Operations image of the week:  In order to precisely deliver the #Schiaparelli landing demonstrator module to the martian surface and then insert #ExoMars TGO into orbit around the Red Planet, it’s necessary to pin down the spacecraft’s location to within just a few hundred metres at a distance of more than 150 million km.

To achieve this amazing level of accuracy, ESA experts are making use of #quasars – the most luminous objects in the Universe – as ‘calibrators’ in a technique known as Delta-Differential One-Way Ranging, or delta-DOR.

Robots are an essential companion to mankind in space, and many of the modern-day masters of these robots are to be found in Montreal, home to the +Canadian Space Agency - this month's ESA Euronews Space programme recently visited to find out more. #robotics #space

Europe is more than just the EU, +Alex. Please check your facts before writing such stupidity.
Switzerland and Norway are also not a member of the EU but are in ESA.
ESA isn't the Space Agency of the European Union but is a Pan-European space organisation.
Besides, like +Zephyr López Cervilla already said, there are more english speaking countries in Europe and English is understood by most other people.

Join us for a Google hangout with ExoMars mission experts for an update on the cruise to Mars, next week's crucial mid-course manoeuvre and preparations for the arrival phase. The hangout will be live on YouTube on 26 July at 14:00 GMT/16:00 CEST.

Since launch on 14 March, ESA's ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter and the Schiaparelli landing demonstration module have been en route to the Red Planet.

The hangout will include updates and live Q&A with ESA experts and scientists, focusing on the crucial milestones during the spacecraft's seven-month cruise to the Red Planet.

The hangout will be hosted by Daniel Scuka (ESA Spacecraft Operations Editor) who will be joined by:

Michel Denis - ExoMars Flight Director, ESOC
Silvia Sangiorgi - ExoMars Deputy Spacecraft Operations Manager, ESOC
Michael Khan - Mission Analyst, ESOC
Ian Thomas - NOMAD spectrometer project manager, Royal Belgian Institute for Space Aeronomy

Post questions using the #askESA hashtag on 26 July - we'll answer the best ones live in the hangout!
