We can be heroes, just for one day" ... I never thought nerdy internet stardom would happen to me ... but ... it was only a matter of time before some random person snagged this photo from WBUR 90.9 FM's story about my D&D group and turned it into a meme. http://artery.wbur.org/2014/03/05/dungeons-dragons-anniversary +JP Glutting +Peter Bebergal +Ezra Glenn +Janaka Stucky +Michael Marano

Hmmm. Why is the "sex" logo a fist? I'm sure you are all wondering, not just me. It isn't just me, is it? It is?

This The New York Times documentary about D&D and the "Satanic Panic" features two tiny clips from a Super 8 movie I filmed of my old D&D group back in 1981. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/04/18/us/when-dungeons-dragons-set-off-a-moral-panic.html?_r=0
You'll see us at minute 00:20 and at minute 08:25. Yes, we were (as their expert says over a clip of my old gang rolling dice and goofing off) “the kind of kids and young people who didn’t go to dances or date on the weekends." But we rocked it. Also featuring Junot Díaz Cory Doctorow Tim Kask

Nice piece Ethan.  As a beginner, when I published with Cognoscenti I asked the editor if it was OK for me to respond to comments by others.  She said sure but, as someone who also published in Cognoscenti, she never read comments and suggested I do the same - too many jerks.  I still read the comments.  I want to know that my words have mattered to at least a few, and I hope to find thoughtful alternative or complementary perspectives.
