I just ordered an Infinity ErgoDox keyboard from Massdrop. Here's hoping I can find a layout that is satisfactory for programming and doesn't break my muscle memory too substantially, while helping with reach pain from using horribly placed modifier keys on standard keyboards. I guess I'll find out some time around the end of summer, which is the estimated delivery. :-/

- keyboard.io) Model 01 ordered. (I've been using TypeMatrix 2020 keyboard in Dvorak mode for many years.) Let me know if you'd like to try any of these.I've have a (not Infinity) ErgoDox I need to assemble and have a Keyboardio (seeMay 1, 2016
- I've often thought the keyboardio looked interesting, as well. The more standard keycaps and greater number of keys on the ergodox made me choose it, but honestly, it's hard to decide when you've never used any of them. I was unfamiliar with the typematrix 2020, but it looks more similar to what I have now (though a bit more radical).
I appreciate the offer to try them, and if I were still routinely in town down there I'd absolutely take you up on it.
I tried to learn dvorak years ago, and found it very painful to change my habits. If I learned an alternative layout now, it would probably be Colemak -- but for now I'm going to stick with a traditional QWERTY layout for the letter keys and try to figure out how to deal with the moviing symbols and modifiers.May 1, 2016

Unfortunately, the logic won't work with current hardware but there are

- I can almost certainly get hold of one of those, I'm sure my parents still have one (or several) from back in the day. The ergo dox wil also be mechanical (I got Cherry MX Browns), but it's not buckling spring like the old IBMs. You can get new manufacture Model Ms now, if you want them.
I've been using an "ergonomic" keyboard for 20+ years, and I would hate to go back to one that didn't have a split hand design.May 1, 2016
