UK Oral Health Crisis

People who want the best treatment for their bad breath Surrey has to offer should be aware that the UK is in the midst of an oral health crisis.

This is particularly affecting children and younger people so take care if you have children yourself.

Around 170 children had tooth extractions every day in the UK last year, and these were largely done on rotten teeth. It is thought that these extractions have to take place due to the impact of sugary drinks on children’s teeth.

The information was released by the Local Government Association's (LGA), which represents 370 councils in England. Their analysis of the data showed the shocking trend.

The British Dental Association has responded with anger to the findings, pointing their finger at ministers who have deprived local authorities of funding.

Chairman Mick Armstrong told The Telegraph: "Tooth decay is the number one reason for child hospital admissions, but communities across England have been left hamstrung without resources or leadership.

"This short-sightedness means just a few thousand children stand to benefit from policies that need to be reaching millions."

The LGA, which released the data, is now calling for clearer information about the sugar content of soft drinks on the packaging. Though food and drink manufacturers are already required to provide information on the ingredients in their products, they want to force drinks manufacturers to present this information in teaspoons, making it clearer to some consumers.

Many soft drink manufacturers have come under fire for the amount of sugar they include in their drinks, with some doctors blaming them for the rise in obesity.

Stay Hydrated This Christmas To Keep Wrinkles At Bay!

The festive season is a wonderful one, where friends and family come together for fun, hilarity and riot – but if you’re above a certain age, you might well see the toll all the partying takes manifesting itself in your skin.

Overindulging at this time of year can really have a big impact on how you both look and feel. Come January, you could well find yourself feeling rather drained, with your eyes red and puffy, your skin dull and even a few more wrinkles than you had back in December.

Wearing lots of makeup – as you’re sure to do for all your fun Christmas parties – can also have an impact on your skin so do make sure that you wash your face at the end of the night or you will regret it.

The most important thing you need to remember is to keep yourself as hydrated as possible at this time of year. When you’re at the pub, have a glass of water between alcoholic drinks – this will help your skin and also your head the next day!

During the day, keep a bottle of water with you so you know you’re drinking enough. You can buy smart bottles these days with a guide on them that tells you how much you should be drinking per hour, so you’ll never lose track.
Other good sources of hydration include watermelon, celery, cucumber, strawberries, lettuce and smoothies so fill the fridge with lots of healthy goodies and you should make it through to the new year just fine.
