Preface: I'm not against civilian gun ownership. Many of my relatives are hunters, I'm completely fine with using guns. But I am
against civilian assault weapon
ownership and somewhat carrying firearms in public. But that's not even the point; the point is preventing irresponsible and mentally unstable or sociopathic people from acquiring them. I'm also not an US citizen but your shit is all over the news everywhere so I can't just ignore stuff about you.
Everyone who's pointing out that firearms cause only a small amount of deaths in the US is missing the point so bad I kind of want to physically assault them. Because I'm a mean person like that.
What they're saying is essentially that it would reduce deaths by only a small amount - some part of the firearm-related deaths, obviously - so let's do nothing instead
When people kill other people with firearms they're often doing it intentionally. Making guns harder to get makes mass murder more difficult. That's a simple as it gets.
Of course people are still going to die and tragedies are still going to happen but there have been so many firearm-related mass-killing incidents this year alone in the US that everyone should have by now noticed you have to do something
to gun-owners who act like this. Psychological screening, harder to get firearms, mandatory registration, something.
But no, the guns aren't at fault, of course you can't do anything about the guns. Just... Fucking hell.
Guns don't kill people but if it's possible to just march into a store and buy a gun without anything more than that, other people sure as hell will. #opinions #firearms
Oh, and you can't protect your rights with guns either, taking away your guns doesn't take away your freedom because your government already holds power over you and the only thing you could do about that with a gun is kill members of the government. Which wouldn't change laws.
The only thing you could defend yourself from would be an armed conflict but why the hell would your government use their soldiers to conquer territory they already hold sovereignty over. #guns #rights #liberty #government #politics #fucktards
In short, if you are against the regulation of guns, you're denying that their availability causes gun-related deaths. If for example only just gun registration was made mandatory and a permit required to own firearms, police could easily crack down on criminals acquiring theirs illegally.
Add a psychological screening before getting your permit and suddenly clinically insane people can't buy guns, either. Suddenly, a lot of irresponsible gun-owners are filtered out and everyone who has a permit can continue on with their life as they did earlier but with less fear of someone killing a bunch of children with a firearm. #gunregulation #itsagoodidea #overtlylongposts #thingsthatshouldnotneedbestated #godblessamerica #pleasegetsomecommonsense
