"Heroic Acts" Should Not Be the Team Norm

Battlefield to boardroom comparisons are useful because the battlefield shows us, in the most dramatic fashion, the consequences of poor leadership. I have thankfully never been in a position in combat where someone had to throw themselves on a grenade to save others. But if I had, I know that I would go over and over how we found ourselves in that position and ensure I did everything possible so it never had to happen again. Now take the analogy to your team or organization.

It Doesn't Matter If Your Employees Like Their Job

As leaders we must face the reality that a large majority of people are, at best, ambivalent about their jobs.

What if you stopped judging how people felt about their jobs and stopped trying to convince them they should care more?

What if you, as a leader, focused on ensuring the work environment was something your employees actually liked, because that is in your control as a leader.

As a coach, there's not much better than seeing impact with clients. I recently had the privilege of spending the day with Rhythm Systems, Inc., and am delighted to share an article they wrote sharing lessons learned from our time together.

Leadership WimHof Style

A couple of weeks back, I began making short videos highlighting #leadership points within the #WimHofMethod. This is another great place for me to share and store these videos, so I hope you enjoy watching them as much as I enjoy making them.

Leadership is a mind and body connection. Getting in touch with that connection is essential. I believe the principles of leadership and the WimHof Method go hand in hand in helping people realize the mind-body connection that is essential for great leadership For the next 52 weeks, I'll be introducing a leadership principle and connecting it to the WimHof Method.

As you will see, I make these videos whenever I have the moment, which often times occurs on weekends when my family is around. I enjoy exposing my family to this method, and as you can see my son is very curious :)

I'll upload my first two weeks this morning, and then will add to this collection weekly, as I complete each lesson.

Effectiveness and Consistency

Imagine these are two words used to describe you as a leader. You could do worse, and maybe not much better if you think about it.

Expectations

This is not an article calling for you to put in place my guidelines to start your leadership journey.

It’s a call for you, as a leader, to think, put your ego aside, and evaluate all the little things that could be improved about your team.
