Great article!

Now you don't have to worry about getting pulled over for driving your Model S on the Turnpike... because New Jersey is banning Tesla:

This article highlights what's going on in Texas. Still, it doesn't really affect me. I can easily go the Tesla service center and test drive a Tesla, then jump online and buy one (which I plan to do later this year!).

This is the future - the beginning of a long and tricky transition away from mobile apps that only work on one platform, to universally compatible webapps that look and feel like native apps, only you they're mostly just HTML that you write once for all platforms.

Chrome apps will soon arrive on Android and iOS devices http://www.engadget.com/2014/01/28/chrome-apps-android-ios via Engadget Android
Last month, we discovered Google was working on a tool that would port Chrome apps to both Android and iOS. Today, the folks in Mountain View released a

Here's my brief and unfair review of 16 Cloud IDEs. CodeEnvy came the closest to meeting my requirements of great github controls and a nice user experience. Ultimately though, none of these were good enough to displace my native desktop tools... yet:

codenvy - this was the best web ide of all the ones I tested below, hands down. Had nice git controls too, not to mention real-time coding, omgwtfbbq!! but at the end of the day.. - you can't see files about to be commited, cant discard them, can't view remote branch history
cloud9 - command line git only
codio - decent enough client, some support for git commands, but very limited
sourcelair - very basic, minimal git functionality
nitrous - no php support
koding - no github support
neutron drive - no github support
compilr - poor github support
shiftedit - poor github support
codeanywhere - poor github support
akshell - very basic
phpfiddle - ugly, not git support
erbix - no github support that i could find
orion - couldn't figure out how to log in - derp

Just discovered the Google Docs equivalent of IDEs - the web-based IDE codenvy.com, which supports simultaneous real-time coding.

To see this for real, I've uploaded a video of myself collaborating with... myself, in separate side-by-side browsers. Intriguing? Absolutely. Practical? Uhh.. well, maybe for doing extreme programming remotely. Very cool all the same.

Water on other planets!!

Scientists prove dwarf planet Ceres contains water http://www.engadget.com/2014/01/22/scientists-prove-dwarf-planet-ceres-contains-water via Engadget Android
Scientists have long thought that the dwarf planet Ceres might hold some form of water, but they've only had indirect evidence at best -- until today,

As an avid "Google Voice" evangelist, I'm extremely excited to see what their team can come up with in the merging of a video conferencing platform with a calling platform. I'm guessing it'll be something of a gotomeeting killer and an ichat killer.
Back when Hangouts was still a rumor, we were under the distinct impression that it would unify off all of Google's messaging services. The cold hard truth is, Hangouts is merely a replacement for ...
