I was proud to speak today in support of Delegate Kathy Tran's HB1111 in the VA House of Delegates' committee on Science & Technology! I'm excited to be helping to bring greater egalitarianism to technical education in the Commonwealth.

This is late, but I wanted to share one of my favorite birthday presents. I was given a bunch of world flags to hang around my room.

1: Angola
2: Taiwan/ROC
3: UN, Brazil
4: Chile
5: South Korea
6: Taiwan/ROC again

Here's hoping the PRC doesn't ban me from the country for this post.

Since I haven't posted almost anything here over the summer, I thought I'd give a quick update on everything relevant I've been up to.

- I started the summer by attending the month-long Virginia Summer Residential Governor's School for Math, Science, and Technology. There I took a class in cybersecurity, and was able to get remote root access to every classmate's computers and Raspberry Pi's, via SSH and a cronjob on each computer which regularly downloaded and ran a bash script from my home server which I could edit to do whatever I want. During an activity in which we were told to set up Ad-Hoc networks and break into others', I used that script to read my classmates' Wi-Fi configs and send the network's login data to my home server. (To clarify, despite the implications of such a botnet-like system, this was very much encouraged by the teachers of the class and the class' curriculum.)
- At Governor's School, I started practicing Capoeira, a martial art developed by Angolans enslaved in Brazil during the 16th century. Since they were slaves, they couldn't risk being caught having fists up and practicing boxing each other, so they hid the lethal martial art inside what looks like a dance. I've now been practicing it for about two months. It's quite fun.
- I replaced my old personal server with a much newer Dell Optiplex which I got from a recycling center. In an effort to use many different distributions, I've switched using OpenSUSE on that server rather than Arch Linux, which I use on my desktop PC.
- If I think of anything else, I'll add it here.

Good summer all in all.

How did I not hear about this?

Probably because I haven't used Ubuntu in multiple years... still pretty neat.
