"When the artist is alive in any person, whatever his kind of work may be, he becomes an inventive, searching, daring, self-expressing creature. He becomes interesting to other people. He disturbs, upsets, enlightens, and he opens ways for a better understanding. Where those who are not artists are trying to close the book, he opens it, shows there are still more pages possible."

Love the use of non-standard substrates!

Gear Threads – Old News Design - In the world of contemporary textile artists, the medium of thread is naturally less startling in the art world than it used to be, but even the canvas of art can be unexpected sometimes. In this case, artist Pati Reis combines freestyle machine stitching with the texture of paper, and the result is both graphically bold and wonderfully textural. Pati picked up needlepoint from her Brazilian grandmother and American patchwork skills from... http://ow.ly/2UJ0Y0

Lovely geometric piece.

RT @lazboy: This graphic embroidered art from @abeautifulmess would look perfect on our gallery wall http://t.co/p722Lpfn1C
In the wintertime, I like to cuddle up with a basket of yarn and settle in for a Netflix marathon. The yarn isn't just there as a cuddle buddy, though. No, no! The yarn gets put to work. Normally I like to crochet the yarn into a blanket or maybe a hat for a friend, but lately I've been all about the embroidery. I might not have the patience of...

True!

I see a lot of articles showcasing "the best typographic designs 2014" and suchlike. They all have one thing in common: they always present the same swirly, handmade, craft style of headline design. Many of these specimens are of very high quality, and are great at catching attention and generally showcasing the power and versatility of type. But here's an important concept: typography ≠ swashes, and typography ≠ headilines. Great typography is not a font. Great typography is not measured by how many discretionary ligatures and contextual alternates you can fit into one phrase. The very best typography hides itself away, enhancing the reader's experience so effectively that it never gets noticed. It could be on the sign at the airport, on your phone's lock screen, in your reference manual, or even on your front door. Its very nature means it is always passed over — but in the midst of the masses of hipster-script poster articles, it deserves an honourable mention. Here's to invisible typography!

Introduction
I'm a 14-year, award-winning embroidery digitizer with experience in designing, implementing and maintaining e-commerce Web sites. As a long-time technology fan, ad-hoc IT staffer and constantly-connected Internet dweller, I'm in the process of adding social media to the marketing arsenal of Albuquerque, NM-based Black Duck Inc. I draw inspiration from my varied experiences as a degree-holder in English with a focus in Medieval Studies from the University of New Mexico, my long career as a creator and maintainer of web sites, and my aforementioned 14 years in the art departments of garment decoration firms, to create informative, artistic and technology-embracing content to educate, entertain and involve both garment-decoration industry members and consumers of decorated apparel via social media and networking.

Spring 2013 Fashion Color Trends - Pantone Fashion Color Report Spring 2...
www.pantone.com

Pantone Fashion Color Report: An overview of Spring 2013 Fashion Colors from Pantone and the designers of New York Fashion Week.

My wife and I were very exacting about our wedding having designed every little bit of the experience ourselves, so when we were hunting for photographers, we were certain to ask questions and make demands, and despite this demanding nature, Kevin, Trisha, and our wedding-day photographer Chris were accommodating, professional, and nice. We received personal attention throughout the process and were allowed to have all the input we wanted. From the stunning personal engagement session to the flawlessly executed wedding day to the expert composition of the wedding album with Trisha's personal touch throughout, the experience was stellar. What is nearly unbelievable is that this also came at such a fair price; having had to budget the entire endeavor ourselves, we couldn't buy the top-end package, but this didn't stop everyone at Kevin's from giving us extremely attentive service. Coming from two very detail-oriented people, that really means something.
