Check out my latest post, on valuing and experiencing the eulogy virtues before we're dead.
My family's upcoming move has given me a chance to witness appreciation for what David Brooks has called the eulogy virtues, but on this side of the grave.

I'm working on an op-ed that brought me back to this line from Nietzsche. Follow the link to read a bit more about it.
I’m planning an op-ed on education, that has to do with how we often focus intensely on some details while forgetting our goal. That reminded me of an often quoted line from Nietzsche. The usual way we see it, it reads: “Forgetting one’s purpose is the commonest forms of stupidity.” I like that version too, […]

As we wrap up Mississippi's "Confederate Heritage Month," once again, here's my June 2015 piece, "Sometimes Heritage Does Harm" aka "'Heritage' Overlooks History"
Flags communicate pride for heritage, but, for some, so do nooses. Unqualified love of heritage inflames America's deepest moral wounds.

Story
Tagline
I write about ethical leadership, democracy, and education.
Introduction
When I get time for them, I love certain arts, especially music and pottery.  I have not messed with clay in several years, but it is LOTS of fun.  I play music MUCH less than I used to, but I still love it a great deal.  When I get time, I do a little business here and there with Tempest Records, my small music business.  At some point, I will return to my own projects soon to do some recording.  A lot of songs have been piling up for me to record and share.
