My latest paper, free download at the link. Supporting a nation's right to say "We don't say that here", and explaining why it matters to have control over the norms governing our speech acts.

SIU has asked its premier program to prep for 50% cut possibility. I gave an interview on that lunacy.
Most of the basement in Morris Library is a designated silent zone, but the Center for Dewey Studies — an outfit not bound to that policy — continues to resonate around the world.

Story
Introduction
When I get time for them, I love certain arts, especially music and pottery.  I have not messed with clay in several years, but it is LOTS of fun.  I play music MUCH less than I used to, but I still love it a great deal.  When I get time, I do a little business here and there with Tempest Records, my small music business.  At some point, I will return to my own projects soon to do some recording.  A lot of songs have been piling up for me to record and share.
