I'd really like to write an add-on, but if I understand correctly I have to develop within the context of a particular spreadsheet and I can't share it between other spreadsheets until it's published.
I'd really prefer to use it a bit more than just on one spreadsheet before I unleash it on the world. Also because I think some of my add-ons will be very particular and not of general interest, but I link to have them in an Add-on menu (rather than a per-app menu) and I would prefer to have Document properties (as opposed to script or user properties).
Which raises another question, at what point does my add-on get access to Document properties? Only once it's published and until then they are script properties?
I was hoping with an Add-On I could avoid the mess of having multiple copies - and the maintenance head-ache.
I know there's kind-of work-arounds (like using a library for all the functionality and creating little scripts in each spreadsheet to call it - but that just seems ridiculous). I'm very disappointed with #Google right now.
