A blog post on some of the more low-level details about the v22.1.0 support library release.

#AndroidDev
It’s been a while since my last post so here we are. You may have seen that the 22.1.0 support libraries were released yesterday, which is probably the biggest non-platform release we’ve done with the support library.

This is actually going to be super useful! Usually I rely on tab sync and/or search history for these, so it's kind of awesome that it'll be more direct now.

All I would do was search for my address on the desktop before leaving.  When I got in the car, it was in the top of the 'recently searched' and I had no effort.

lol. I mean... is anyone surprised?

Apple has found an innovative new way to be a dick: Apps mentioning Pebble support are removed from the App Store.
We have just had the latest version of our SeaNav US iOS app rejected by Apple because we support the Pebble Smartwatch and say so in the app description and meta-data (we also state in the review notes that "This application was approved for use with the Pebble MFI Accessory in the Product Plan xxxxxx-yyyy (Pebble Smartwatch)".

I'm not sure if this is a terrible idea or an awesome idea.

This here is the future.

The Seattle company said a small group of Prime customers in Munich will be eligible to receive packages in the trunk of their cars, even when they aren’t there. The test is in conjunction with car maker Audi and shipping company DHL.

Under the test, Amazon customers with Internet-connected Audis agree to give DHL couriers electronic access to their trunks and then set the approximate location of their car and a window of time. The couriers then leave the package inside the trunks.

Amazon said it hopes to roll the service out internationally after the experiment begins in Germany in May.
Amazon.com is testing a new delivery method in which DHL couriers will leave packages in the trunks of cars.

The companies involved in creating this service and technology are obviously no dummies. The linked article fails to mention that there is of course a security protocol in place in order to avoid theft and abuse by 3rd parties. The trunk is not open or accessible all the time to everybody. Each delivery is tied to a digital one time access key and a narrow time frame for opening the trunk. Once the time frame has expired or once the key has been used to open the trunk it cannot be used again. Also we are talking about a pilot project conducted in Munich, a city with one of the lowest crime rates in Germany. I would not expect the worst outcome here.
