After a few weeks with a new Macbook Pro, it's been a bucket of bugs and terrible battery life. Some things that annoy me:
∙ Battery is spotty at best, and I can usually go like maybe 3-4 hours (without even touching an IDE) before I need to limp to an outlet.
∙ Touchbar items randomly just disappear.
∙ I need to login twice sometimes/often to get TouchID to work.
∙ The charger is the worst (but yay for USB-C, at least)
∙ I have a twist tie to keep my adapter tidy, because for some reason they didn't include those little wrappy things like the older models.
∙ The dongle life is real, and really annoying. Went maybe an hour before I was confronted with the realization that literally nothing at work is set up to accept them, so I need to carry a billion dongles in a giant duffle bag just to do a demo.

It's not all bad though, here are some highlights:
∙ No more lit Apple on the top, so you can cover that horrible logo with a Google sticker or something.
∙ I can plug my Pixel into it without an adapter. Woot!

tl;dr: Don't.

If I had to do college all over again, I definitely would've pursued computer science as a degree rather than programming as a hobby.

Tesla Autopilot avoids a crash before it happens

Tesla's Autopilot system keeps getting better and better as time goes on, as more users use the technology and provide Tesla with more data to improve their system. The latest feat shown in this article clearly shows how Tesla's system was able to foresee an impending crash and completely avoid the crash before it happened.

Google Home is so good
On the topic of Alexa vs Google Home...

Wife: "Alexa, can you substitute baking soda for baking powder?"

Alexa: "Hmm, I'm not sure what you meant by that question."

Wife: "Alexa, can you substitute baking soda for baking powder?"

Alexa: "I've added baking powder to your shopping list."

Wife: "Wtf... Hey Google, can you substitute baking soda for baking powder?"

Google Home: "According to SimplyRecipes, you can substitute baking soda for baking powder, if you increase the amount of acidic ingredients in the recipe to offset the baking soda. You'll also need much less baking soda as it is 3 times as powerful as baking powder. You'll need about a teaspoon of vinegar or lemon juice for every 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda."

Wife: Dayum.

Cool little pool bar. Plenty of space and lots of pool tables. The staff was pretty laid back when I went, so it was a lot of fun. Bar food is pretty standard fare, which is good. If you're going for bar food, you won't be disappointed.
