We don’t need to see anything out of the ordinary. We already see so much.
Today is Treasure’s 7th Birthday, so we’re taking a contemplative look at our creek as the seasons change. Although I do notice some mellowing in her temperament, she’s still the same affectionate, food-motivated, adventure-loving girl she’s always been. Watching her mourn the loss of Penny 3 months ago, and now taking charge of domesticating her new brother, Sterling, I just marvel at what an amazing journey we’ve had together.
Our book this month is Girlfriends, Ghosts, and Other Stories, another collection of short pieces by Robert Walser. His gift for finding the whimsical and and mystical in the everyday is on full display here, with 2 pieces on kittens (so far!), a piece about a guy slacking off at work to get through a Monday, and a critical examination of overcoats. If you’re looking for a book that celebrates the ordinary, this is a book for you!
