Wow, 5 years ago. I had just gotten the new camera, and was excited to take shots of dogs running in the snow. We only had the one greyhound, so good thing some other dogs showed up...

Like a baby monkey losing hold of his grip on the mother’s body as she leaps from branch to branch, he felt he had lost hold and fallen from the rites and actions he had clutched till now.

Angus the puppy came to visit our book club today, but had some difficulty staying on task. Treasure seems a bit put off by his shenanigans…

This year’s selections start off strong, with Samskara, A Rite For A Dead Man by U. R. Ananthamurthy. Taking place in a not-so-distant past, it deals with the spiritual dilemma faced by a pious brahmin when his rebellious colleague passes away. As a brahmin, he should be accorded a proper funeral, but his behavior was so infamous, honoring him may bring shame to the village. As he wrestles with the problem, Praneshacharya realizes his own behavior, while above reproach, has much baser motives than he has allowed himself to acknowledge. While the setting is extremely particular, I had no problem relating to the characters conflicted nature, even though my knowledge of Hindu culture is extremely rudimentary.

To cold to stop and take a self on the trail, so here we are after spending an hour tromping thru frozen mud on the South Willamette trail.

Introduction
I'm a Math teacher, very amateur bass player in a hard-rock band, enthusiastic cook, and massive bookworm.

But, if you add me to your circles, what you'll probably notice is that I post picture after picture of my adorable greyhounds. So if that sounds like the sort of thing you want in your stream, have at it.
Bragging rights
I've lived with a remarkable woman for 20 years, just haven't gotten around to getting married yet.

Linda is wonderful, kind and affordable. She is very patient with problem dogs that other groomers would balk at, and very accommodating with her schedule.

A Sight-Hound Lovers Dream! Happened to walk by this store on my way to play pinball at Jules Mae, and was sucked in by the extensive greyhound merchandise. The owner was knowledgable and friendly, and shared her experiences with 3 retired racers. The selection of food, collars, leashes and "fun stuff" was jaw-dropping. Lots of great stuff for owners of any breed, but people with sight-hounds should really plan a trip to this wonderful shop!

Living in Eugene, we are spoiled with many wonderful coffee shops, but Eugene Coffee Company stands out from the crowd. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, hardly ever a wait, spacious outdoor covered patio and ample parking make this a daily stop for me. Of course, it doesn't hurt that the coffee is delicious.

Got my sugar ant and rodent problem all sorted out, and I don't have to worry about chemicals in the backyard hurting my dog. Awesome, prompt service!
