Story

Hey all I'm Eric Floresca and I'm a wanderer currently being a Muay Thai Fighter which I never saw coming.
Introduction
I try to be open to the possibilities and am finding my way through the maze or at least that's what I tell myself. I was writing a TV script (for fun) based on an idea I have been nursing for awhile but then created an entire world which I am trying to find the story for.

I finished my post-grad account management program at Centennial College and then started writing  for TechvibesihaveanideaTomorrow Awards and The Ad Buzz. I've written for Marketing MagazineFITC and most recently IT Business Canada while diving deep into the social spaces.

Worked at itravel2000 as a copywriter and a digital strategist for a bit until I decided to focus on the script while taking time to find my own future whatever that may be.

Going to be taking some time to live life, instead of just surviving while I'm travelling the world to discover, test and learn more about our home and hopefully about who I am. See you around.

The Chiang Mai International Airport has direct connections across Thailand and has regular international flights. It isn't far from the centre of Chiang Mai which makes it more convenient than those airports that are far away from the closest city. It is a small airport relative to the ones you will find in Bangkok but by the same token it makes getting through security much easier than at the larger airport. Since it is a smaller international airport it has some of modern amenities of larger airports but on a limited scale. I found it has good connections across Thailand and the region but has limited international flights outside specific destinations which leads to higher prices than what you would find in Bangkok. Overall its a good airport if you want to travel within Thailand or to specific International destinations quickly.

Pai's walking street has a little bit of everything and a ton of food. Whether you want dried squid, pancakes, chicken on a stick, Pad Thai, desserts, ninja paints or an elephant shirt walking street has you covered. Starting at about 5 p.m. and going until 10 p.m. the street is filled with people selling food, trinkets and clothing to tourists both foreign and domestic. The street isn't long and it is easy to spend a lot going from person to person but you are sure find something to buy or eat here. It is much busier during high season with more tourists but food and stuff being sold. Being able to go down walking street and get a turkish kabob or a crepe is great and makes me wish we had more things like this back in Canada.

I went to Charn Chai Muay Thai for a month and stayed a more than a year. Nestled in Pai, just a few hours from Chiang Mai, this muay thai gym has a family atmosphere that keeps many people coming back time after time. The prices are 8000 baht for a month, 2200 a week, 500 a day, 300 a session. Whether you want to get fit while you travel, are interesting in fighting or just want to train I can't recommend it enough. I've never done any sort of martial arts but I was able to go at my own pace and improve steadily. You can do private 1 hour lessons for 500 baht which can really help to accelerate your growth in the sport. Charn Chai Muay Thai offers food at the end of each session. The sessions are twice daily with the morning session starting at 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and then from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. All you need is some workout clothes and you are good to go. They have weights, a few machines, punching bags, a pull up bar, skipping ropes and all the equipment you need to get into fighting shape. It's probably one of the best gyms in Northern Thailand, with great trainers who all have their own unique take on muay thai which gives you some diversity when learning. I never thought I would stay as long as I did but it was well worth it and like many I know I'll be back before long.

A very chill cafe just straight up from walking street past the Pai Hospital. They serve both thai and western food and you get a generous portion. They sell coffee, tea, fruit shakes and alcohol for reasonable prices. Joy's has free wi-fi and just has a great vibe where you can chill out after a long day or travel of if you just want to relax. It was one of the few places with poutine so it gets a plus in my book.

AYA Service primarily does motorbike rentals for tourists and is the busiest rental place in town. This means that while they have a lot of motorbikes and services for tourists they motorbikes can have a lot of wear and tear on it. As of this writing a 110 CC motorbike is 100 baht a day, a Honda Wave 125 CC is 120, a 125 CC Honda Click 140 among others and this is without insurance. You should always get insurance on any motorbikes because I have seen way too many accidents that happen to not be safe rather than sorry. AYA service is also a place where you can get bus and train tickets. You also get a motorbike helmet which you leave a 100 baht deposit until its returned. They run minibus services to Chiang Mai from Pai and give you more options of where to get dropped off at either Tha Phae Gate, the railway station which is right next to the AYA service in Chiang Mai or the Bus Station which is useful so you don't need to get a tuk tuk or a red taxi to get into town. I would say because they are busy they tend to want to get you in and out so they can move on to the next person. AYA service is not bad but there are a lot options for motorbike rentals in town that you should check out first depending on what your needs are. Their transportation services are OK but having options of where you get dropped off is great if you are going to Chiang Mai. I found the people were nice but could be rushed because of how busy they are and that this is not a place I would go to for a tour since there are a lot of better options in town. Overall I wouldn't mind going to AYA for a motorbike for a day or two but any longer and I would look for other options. Your experience will vary but during high season where the motorbikes take a lot of abuse you make want to check around at the other options especially if you want to go into the hills or outside the valley.
