As of July, 2018, Google Chrome will be marking a website as “Not Secure” if it is not protected with an SSL certificate i.e. going from http to https

Posted by Emily Schechter, Google Chrome Security Product Manager

"For the past several years, we’ve moved toward a more secure web by strongly advocating that sites adopt HTTPS encryption. And within the last year, we’ve also helped users understand that HTTP sites are not secure by gradually marking a larger subset of HTTP pages as “not secure”. Beginning in July 2018 with the release of Chrome 68, Chrome will mark all HTTP sites as “not secure”.

This will impact your website SEO and user engagement, negatively affecting you if your website is not secure.

Your tweets are visible. If you start your tweets with "@" they're invisible to your follower's streams unless they follow that tagged handle too. You can fix this by leaving the @ symbol out or proceeding it with a period.#TwitHead

You think Snapchat is a fad. With 400 million messages sent per day and a core audience between the ages of 13 and 25, you cannot afford to ignore this new social platform. Marketers who are willing to venture into uncharted territory often reap the most rewards.#KnowYourAudience

Yout think you're Don Draper. Don Draper, from the television show Mad Men, was able to devote his entire career to print and television advertising. Today, marketing is in a constant stage of change. You have to stay current and make your social media time count. #MakeItCount

You're speaking the wrong language. Social content is unique for each platform or network. Your goal should be to seamlessly blend your message into each platform's unique style. For example, post animated GIF's or Tumblr and short, witty statements on Twitter.

Your advertising strategy is outdated. Today's effective marketing is all about blending into the flow of entertainment. Don't interrupt people's social media experience with jarring ads. Instead, use entertaining photo's or video's to catch their attention.

You're making use of too many "sales pitches". Share content without making it obvious you're selling a product or service.

You're trying to create the waves. The best approach to marketing is to ride the wave, try not to create it. Make sure to check out which items are trending on Twitter, and join the conversation instead of trying to force your own.

Trying to use every social media network - there are so many social media networks out there: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest just to name a few. While you should consider several social sites, you shouldn't use all of them.

Failing to identify a target audience - Not all social media users are exactly the same. It's true that 59% of Facebook users are between the ages of 25 & 54 and that 71% of Pinterest users are female. But, those are very general statistics that you shouldn't base your entire campaign on.

Posting without a clear strategy - it's far too easy to waste a lot of time posting entertaining things on social media that don't help you reach your goals. Outline your social strategy and the type of content will help you reflect that.

Posting too much or not enough - Unfortuntaley, there isn't a magic number that will tell you exactly how often you should to each of your social media accounts. There's a lot of research about how often you should post to various social networks which give you some good starting points.
