I am supporting Chevron’s @FuelYourSchool program in Miami-Dade County and hope you will too by sharing this week’s #TeacherTuesday feature - Mrs. Vazquez from G.W. Carver Middle School!

Teacher’s Name:
Mrs. Bertha Vazquez
School & Project

Grade: 7-8
Subject: Honors physical science and Honors biology
School: G.W. Carver Middle School

On her first job as an English teacher in France, Mrs. Vazquez realized she wanted to dedicate her life to teaching, and 27 years later, she holds the same love for her profession and enjoys challenging her students every day. She now teaches advanced science classes for 7th and 8th graders, and to effectively carry out her lessons, it is important to have the right tools in the class to keep students engaged. Hands-on lab projects are essential, and thanks to @FuelYourSchool, Mrs. Vazquez has received funds for two lab projects thus far. Watching her students grow up to be professionals fuels her love for teaching. Mrs. Vazquez is very proud of her students and always tells them: “Science is beautiful, but it can be hard. Don’t quit; learn to tolerate frustration.” This is a piece of advice she encourages them to also apply in their everyday lives. #TeacherTuesday
