Living Arrows 2017 - hats

Last week was the OH’s birthday and this hat turned up in the house having been a present from the in-laws.  Although N seemed quite taken with it. It was straight on his head and he was willingly ‘posing’ for the camera. I think the tongue just adds to…

My Sunday Photo - friendly labrador

Our labrador is meant to be a gun dog.  We went to pick her up when N was just under 3 months old, so they’ve grown up together.  She’s a lovely temperament, is great around children and is a good protector. She is a rubbish gundog though, because she’s…

Nervy start to a new tennis club term. Fingers crossed the swimming first week back goes ok.

The new term at tennis is always hit and miss with N. It seems he’s now playing tennis three times a week at the moment.  On Mondays at after school tennis club, on Fridays at the tennis club junior lessons (both with the same coach).  And now on Fridays…

Kids birthday parties

Does your child enjoy or hate them?

N was never that fussed, he refused to go to lots. But after one this weekend - 'old skool' style - he seems to be converted

Living Arrows 2017 week 2 - gappy smiles. How many teeth have your children lost? #livingarrows @genuineplacebo

If there’s one thing that N does really well, it’s lose teeth.  The new year has started with lots of gappy smiles. He’s not quite six yet, and on Friday tooth number 6 fell out at school.  So the tally is 2 swallowed, 2 lost (on the farm and on a shoot),…

Parents evening and dinosaurs. Join in the linky #schooldays

After last week’s short week, this one was about getting back into the proper routine. After a long break you forget how hard it is to do a full week at school. And that’s just the parents – fitting everything in, remembering everything that’s going on…

Project 365 2017 week 2 - hot chocolate and reading books

This year feels like it’s been going on a while now, but we’re only in week 2.  The weather’s been miserable and I’ve been relying on my phone camera. That’s if I even remember to take photos.  I was struggling this week to remember which is ridiculous…

What love is...with children. The child's version of the old Love is...cartoon

When I was a girl, one of the chores we had to do was the drying up on a Sunday.  Of course it was drying up minus dishwashers.  We always fought over the best tea towels and one of my favourites was the Love Is…cartoon strip one. It was a cartoon of a…

Birthday party convert - it only took a traditional party

N doesn’t really do birthday parties. I love children’s parties because at the moment, most parents stay which gives me a great opportunity to catch up with mums I don’t get to see at school. But N isn’t usually a fan. So he normally refuses to go to any…

Goals for 2017

My intention setting up my dance blog was to share my passion, and write at least 1 post a month (ideally 2). But I've been working hard at my main blog so it's been left behind.
It turns out that even though I know how to target the UK audience, I do need to more regularly write on it than I have been. My intention had been to have interviews with social dancers on the blog as well, along with other hints and tips posts from others, but that's not really happened either. I'm still waiting on a couple of posts from others who'd promised them.

So 2017, I want to work harder on What about Dance. Get a more regular readership, set up my newsletter (for those subscribed to it already!), and expand the audience so I don't have to rely on the UK dancers on Facebook.

If you're a modern jiver and you fancy answering some questions about your dancing and how you started, do contact me via the blog.
