This is, along with the recent Tuukka Rask extension, the smartest offseason move in quite a busy offseason for the Boston Bruins. 2012 Selke Trophy winner and alternate captain Patrice Bergeron has signed an eight-year contract extension valued at $52 million or a $6.5 million cap hit. This will keep him a Bruin through 2021-22–ostensibly [...]

Tuukka Rask of the Boston Bruins has now officially entered the ranks of the highest-paid goaltenders in the NHL. He was signed to a huge eight-year deal worth a total of $56 million or a $7 million cap hit each year. Rask’s deal is now the largest in Bruins history, eclipsing the previous largest (Zdeno [...]

Second chances really do exist, as proven by the fact that Jarome Iginla has now become part of the Boston Bruins. This is not an extremely late April Fool’s Day joke. This is not going to be retracted in a late hour when another team takes him instead. This is real, this is the truth [...]

Formerly the backup goaltender for the Boston Bruins, unrestricted free agent Anton Khudobin has decided to head down south to the Carolina Hurricanes on a one-year deal. His new deal is worth $800,000 and will result in him becoming an unrestricted free agent at this time next year. Khudobin, who appeared in 14 games [...]

Andrew Ference hails from Sherwood Park, Alberta, which is located just east of Edmonton. Now he can say he’s played for both Alberta-based NHL teams because with the opening of free agency, he’s signed with the Edmonton Oilers, officially saying goodbye to his tenure with the Boston Bruins. His new deal is worth $3.25 million [...]

If you’re a Boston Bruins fan who was gutted that you never got to see the classic post-goal salute Jaromir Jagr promised, you might just be in luck. There’s a possibility that he might actually come back to the team next season after all because, well, things have changed since general manager Peter Chiarelli said [...]

One of the newcomers to the Boston Bruins, Loui Eriksson, was formally introduced today in a conference call wherein he praised the team’s style, sounded very excited to join the team and revealed that a former fan-favorite Swedish Bruin got in touch with him not long after the trade. (Kind of like how Andrew Ference, [...]

The opening of the NHL free agent frenzy is extremely hyped-up, sometimes for good reason, but the truth of the matter is that free agent signings are not the be-all end-all of a team’s makeup and success. It would behoove those Boston Bruins fans who are hitting the panic button right now to keep that [...]

When Nathan Horton made the decision to leave the Boston Bruins, it was motivated by a desire to seek a new beginning in a quieter market, possibly one with better weather. By signing with the Columbus Blue Jackets for seven years, he might not get that always-great weather that he may have imagined (Columbus’ climate [...]

On the Fourth of July, the Boston Bruins and Dallas Stars decided to make some fireworks of their own by completing a huge seven-player trade that sends Tyler Seguin, Rich Peverley and Ryan Button down to the Southwest in exchange for Loui Eriksson, Matt Fraser, Reilly Smith and Joe Morrow. Yes, the Bruins received [...]

Today, the NHL announced its traditional end-of-year selections for First and Second Team All-Stars, designations that can sometimes result in players getting a nice little sum of bonus money for a job well done. Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals doesn’t have such a bonus built into his contract, but if he did, he [...]

I'm a journalist, I watch tons of TV, I love hockey, I'm a nerd and I love to eat. It's all good.
Introduction
Hi, my name's Emma Harger. A native of the Atlanta area, I recently graduated from college (hence the profile picture!) with a degree in journalism and now I am putting it to work as a Patch writer. I love to write. It's everything I've ever wanted to do.
I also enjoy watching quite a lot of TV, mostly comedy shows but I'm open to pretty much anything. I have no shame in liking pop music.
I'm also a big hockey fan and since I live in Atlanta, I have some pretty intense feelings about what recently happened to my team. I am still learning about other teams to like.
I also love to eat. I will try pretty much anything. Surprise me!
Bragging rights
Survived high school and college, have written editorials that appeared in a major Atlanta publication, attended the last-ever Atlanta Thrashers game, I just do whatever I can.
