I learned a ton about polar bears and Churchill writing this piece for the Virgin Atlantic blog!
An historic trading port located around 1700 km north of Winnipeg, Churchill, Manitoba is the undisputed Polar Bear Capital of the World. Every year, this remote little town welcomes thousands of nature lovers from across the globe, who come for the rare opportunity to see these ferocious (yet decep...

Just wanted to share that I wrote another piece for the Virgin Atlantic blog, focusing on The Loop -- a self-guided walking tour of downtown Winnipeg, the Exchange, and St. Boniface.
The Loop is an 8km downtown Winnipeg walking tour that reveals the city’s rich history, Chicago-style modernist architecture, and enthusiastic food culture with 49 numbered stops. Visit some (or all) of them to become acquainted with this big little city’s central neighbourhoods. Begin your walk at ...

After having stocked my freezer for 2 babes and helped with several other freezer cooking parties, I was excited to share some tips! Seriously one of the best things I did to get ready for a new baby!
Take a bit of time for freezer cooking now, and you’ll be thanking yourself for weeks after your baby arrives

One of my latest posts on The Baby Post! Researching ideas for this article inspired me to pick up some fun items to give out at Halloween, so I'm set in that department. Costumes are another story though ;)
None of the sugar, all of the fun! Trick-or-treaters will love these treats just as much as candy

We bought our cloth diapers from Canada's Diaper Ladies 4 years ago and are now diapering our second child with the same ones. The customer service is truly outstanding: orders of diaper covers are quickly fulfilled and we have had some nice little perks for being understanding when items were out of stock, or for referring others to the brand. Most recently I asked them to repair the velcro on some of our diapers that were no longer under the 3-year warranty, fully expecting and prepared to pay for the repairs. Not only did Penny repair the original diapers at no charge, she gave me several extra brand-new ones. Love these diapers (affordable, simple to use, and easy to clean) and love this company!

I have only eaten once at Mercadito Latino's cafe, but it was awesome: we had pupusas to eat and horchata to drink. However, I pop into the market every few months for its great selection of Latin foods and a killer deal on frozen, Manitoba-made corn tortillas. The people who work there are so charming and friendly and I always feel very welcome and free to ask questions about products. I love going to Mercadito Latino!

Savoir Faire is a lovely little gift shop on Henderson Hwy, full of beautiful locally-made gift items including soap, candles, art carts and prints, quilts, jewelry, interesting and unique furniture and home decor. I love popping in to see what's new!

I've been buying meat and eggs weekly at Frigs for close to two years and have nothing but great things to say about this place. In addition to high quality, antibiotic-free and growth hormone-free meats and farm eggs, they also sell a great selection of organic, local, and gluten-free goods. Many of their fresh sausages are gluten-, egg-, soy-, dairy- and nitrate-free. Their kubi dogs are amazing! Lately they've been stocking some 100% grass-fed beef, as well. The butchers are knowledgeable and friendly. The one time I returned something, it was no questions asked. I know a lot of people who go out of their way to buy from Frigs and hope this place is around for a long, long time!
