Morning everyone! Still pondering whether to go freelance? Not sure where to start or what steps to take? The 30 Day Freelance Lifestyle E-Course kicks off tomorrow - why not join us?

I'm also offering a special offer with my friend +Elizabeth Sellers  who runs the Big Blogging Bootcamp. If you buy both e-courses, you'll get them for £40 rather than £50 (plus accounting whizz +Rosie Slosek  has included some special goodies too)

I'm away from home at the moment, but managing to sneak in some work while everyone is asleep (yes, I'm aware that's a little workaholic-ish). I'm relying on my iPad mainly for this, which iPad apps help all of you? Mailchimp Editor, Mailbox, Wunderlist and the Wordpress app are making my life so much easier today.

There aren't many iPad apps that are all that helpful specifically for us freelance software developers.  The main one I can think of offhand would be coincidentally the one that used the same name as my company, Codosaurus.  It's an FTP client.  There are a few SSH clients as well.  But it's still not much of  substitute for at least a laptop.  However, I rarely have any use for those.

Other than them, I rely heavily on the Notes app just to take notes (been meaning to look into Evernote), and a standard mail client.  The built-in mail app does OK, but G-Whiz is better for my purposes as it lets me use GMail's labels, which are critical to how I manage my email.  (Long story short, I mainly use two labels, List and Work, automagically applied by filters, to divide my email into the four resulting combinations.)

Come to think of it, G-Whiz's interface to GCal is also useful since it pulls in other calendars a lot better than the standard calendar app, and I do pull in a separate "todos" calendar, my wife's, and a few more.

I do the same, and the key is to do exactly what you mentioned - reply personally to their reply to your automated email. Great video.

One of the best changes I made to automated emails was changing the from address from my email address to "please-reply@mydomain..." which still routes to me.  Somehow this seems to work better than any wording I tried in the emails

Great to see a decent teppanyaki place outside London. Not quite as skilled as some of the others I've been to (no flying knives here), but yummy food and quick service.

We order from China Express an embarrassing amount - and it's for a good reason! A great mix of chinese classics, a couple of dim sum dishes and a few other bits, plus speedy delivery, mean we come back to order from China Express again and again.

South Hill Park is one of the best things about Bracknell. A beautiful old building surrounded by plenty of play areas, dog walking areas and a small lake. South Hill Park is host to events like food festivals, theatre products, a small old-school cinema, a digital media studio, evening courses and even an outdoor theatre production which took place in the gardens and woods around the building. I like that they've recently started to stream some of their events online too - why don't more places do this?

I popped into the Hilton Bracknell Hotel for a meeting when I discovered the Starbucks in Sainsbury's round the corner didn't have Wi-Fi. I was pleasantly surprised when we walked in and were greeted by a really helpful manager who not only grabbed us a couple of drinks from the Costa Coffee bar, but also showed us to some great seats and gave us the Wi-Fi code. All the other staff we spoke to were really helpful and friendly too.

We stayed in one of the best rooms in this gorgeous hotel on the eve of my sister's wedding, and it was the perfect place to get ready. What more could you want than a four poster bed, a teardrop bath, shower surrounded by twinkle lights and even a dinner table? Perfect for a treat weekend away, plus it's within walking distance of all the best restaurants in Reading.
