With last night's passing of Coach Dean Smith, yes, UNC and college basketball lost a legend; however, NC and the world lost an amazing leader. While I worked in the UNC athletic department, every time I crossed paths with Coach Smith, he took time to say hey, ask how I was and inquire about the Wake Forest University sticker on the back window of my Miata... Such deep care and an amazing memory! Great reports from ABC11 at and ESPN at RIP, Coach Smith!
