When I was a kid, my mom took me to see an exhibit of Keith Haring's art in NYC . I was too young to understand the impact of his art back then, but all these years later, I feel so fortunate that I was at that show. Super rad!

Went to Audium last night for the show. It's a retro theater with over 170 strategically placed speakers where "sound sculptures" are performed in pitch black. Such an awesome experience, highly recommended: http://www.audium.org/index.html

After walking past DOSA on Fillmore 34,729,387,492 times, I FINALLY went inside and ate some food. I'm so glad I did! Started with the veggie sliders, which were out of this world! Those little sliders pack a huge flavor punch. Spicy basil Dosa was the perfect amount of spicy, and the Dosa was perfectly crisp with a flavorful filling. The meal ended with a bowl of prawn masala (with the plain rice). I probably would have licked the bowl if I was not in public! What really put this meal over the top was the wonderful service. We had an awesome waitress who explained the menu and made great recommendations. I can't wait to come back here and try more food!

On the Bridge is such a gem in Japantown! I live in the neighborhood, and I'm not crazy about all the expensive, touristy restaurants in the Japantown malls. This place is all about true comfort food: Japanese style pizza and pasta, huge portions of rice dishes that are full of flavor. I love their veggie curry, and it's usually enough food for two days of lunches!

Earlier today, I attending a private wedding reception for two of my amazing friends at 18 Reasons, and it was wonderful! Overall, 18 Reasons is a homey and unique space. We were a group of 20-ish, and we fit comfortably in the space. The service was excellent, and the food from Bi Rite was fresh and arrived right on time. Thanks for a wonderful reception, 18 Reasons!

I randomly found this hidden gem of a store while wandering around Noe Valley, and I already can't wait to go back! I went in looking for Christmas ornaments: they had a large selection of traditional ornaments as well as funny, unique ornaments. I walked away with a glittery hamburger, a shiny piece of pizza, and a cute dinosaur to hang on my tree! In addition, they also have great Hanukkah decorations and a selection of Menorahs in a wide range of prices. I didn't see too much of the store besides the holiday stuff, but I could tell they had a variety of gifts and stationary. The store is also home to some wonderfully fluffy and friendly dogs :)

City Beer Store is an amazing spot for beer lovers in SF. Their selection is incredibly extensive, and the staff here is very knowledgeable and helpful. I found their help particularly useful when searching for gluten free beer for a friend! Before you shop, head over to the in-store bar for an awesome beer. Never fear their unique beers: the bartenders are seriously great at making recommendations! Just the other day, the bartender was kind enough to take the time and explain to me what a Gose style beer is. And it was delicious.

I seriously love this bar. It's a cozy gem on Polk street, and I am so happy they opened in the neighborhood! I've been to Upcider a handful of times, and every time I've been, I've had really great service. The servers are great at answering questions and making recommendations. Upcider has some unusual sour beers and Mead, but they also have more 'normal' beers and ciders, so everyone can be happy! I love the atmosphere of this bar: even when it's pretty full, you can still carry on a conversation with the people at your table. Thank you Upcider!

I'll share a quick story: I took my Jewish mother from Queens here when she came to visit me, and she was VERY impressed. We arrived around 2:15 on a Sunday (they close at 3) and got a table within 5 minutes. The food was out of this world! We each ordered matzo ball soup, and we split a piece of sweet kugel and a corned beef sandwich. The matzo ball soup was very rich and full of flavor. And the matzo balls are huge! The soup could probably be a meal in itself, but where's the fun in that? The corned beef sandwich is not the normal NYC unhinge-your-jaw size. It's small by Katz's or Carnegie Deli standards. Nonetheless, the sandwich was unreal. I found it to have the perfect fat/meat ratio, and the bread was tasty and crusty. Lastly, the kugel was the perfect addition to the meal. Just perfect. Confession time: I also took a piece of babka bread to go. It was super fresh, flakey, and not too sweet. I could eat that babka bread every day and be very, very happy. My mom and I were still eating when they closed, but the staff was super friendly and didn't try to shuffle us out of there. I'm looking forward to heading back to Wise Sons in the near future!
