Hailing from Johannesburg South Africa, Behr's methods stem from sampling, field recording as well as using various samplers and instruments to create live loops. His philosophy encompasses the idea that music is within all. Using sounds within nature and our environment and the manipulation thereafter. As a composer, Behr's focal point is the breaking down of barriers. His works with various artists is to gain inspiration in continually molding his approach to production and composition. Simply put, music is a medium advocating his expression.

Download my latest free Ableton Live Instruments Pack entitled Glass.

The behr - Glass Ableton Live Pack consists of two highly versatile polyphonic glass instruments namely Ceaseless and Infliction.

These velocity sensitive multi-sample instruments were meticulously crafted with the sounds of water filled glassware, voiced by friction and mallets.

Ceaseless is an instrument that generates harmonically rich sounds that produce a cacophony of interesting overtones for creating harmonic textures.

Ranging from ever evolving sustained tones to staccato percussive sequences voiced by the use of friction from damp fingertips on numerous water filled crystal glasses.

Ceaseless was inspired by the Glass Armonica which is an instrument invented by Benjamin Franklin in 1761, that consists of spinning glass bowls graduated in size to produce musical tones by means of friction.

Inflict is a percussive harmonic instrument with a range of velocity sensitive tonal variables, created by water filled glass struck with mallets.

Sixteen macros are available to manipulate a multitude of audio and MIDI effects to dial in a unending variety of electronic and acoustic sounds.

Inflict was inspired by the Cloud-Chamber Bowls which is an instrument invented by Harry Parch in 1950, that consists of a set of 12-US gallon (45 L), 16-inch diameter Pyrex bowls cut from carboys, suspended in a frame.

Additional audio and MIDI effect macros have been assigned for each instrument to generate an extremely wide variety of both electronic and organic sonic possibilities for composers to be inspired by.
